Stortorget, Malmö January 11, 2005
Turning to the right we see the street leading from Stortorget (big square) to Gustav Adolf’s Torg. A close look reveals the street is lined with modern buildings. Mostly stores and offices.
The big building is another 100 year plus old building. Once apartments, it is now all offices. The ground floor is an expensive clothing store.
The building along the right edge of the photo is also a 100 year plus construction. Again, offices. The ground floor is a movie theater with a large and a small salon. It hosts film festivals and also shows unusual films. I saw a Marx Brothers festival there, also a Charlie Chaplin festival. Some years ago it was on the verge of bankruptcy, but was fortunately saved. The underlying money politics were rather nasty.

I do so love these old buildings - they have so much character that seems lacking in the newer constructions.
