Description
I found this in the back yard. its 3 photos of the same mushroom taken over the course of 5 days.
the fungi are called puffballs because clouds of brown dust-like spores are emitted when the mature fruitbody bursts in response to impacts such as those of falling raindrops.

Falling rain or kids stomping on them in a field when they were young and didn't know it was a spore cloud. The dust cloud looked like a cool explosion to our imaginations, lol. Good thing it wasn't alien spores. Nice work on the time lapse...
