A few years back, a theater group asked me to make an image of a wall, "where the wall is strange and inhibiting, but also filled with light---like some happy revelation is behind it". It was for a small play. This was my piece. (My photo.)
Recently, I've posted a number of studies. For me, these are like drawings: I'm trying to explore pure color, form, light and dark, open and closed spaces, etc. Like camera drawings.
Anyway, I'm not here very often, so I'm piling stuff on...thanks for taking it all in!

Interesting reaction. Reading your description put me in a frame of mind to see this in terms of patterns. The dominant figure is the wall. Horizontal lines of brick repeated in the far distance in the building but separated by the gate which introduces a discordant vertical pattern. And then there are the trees which appear to be chaotic in their lack of order. Then in the middle of everything is the reflection in the car mirror.

Wonder what is in there..... but I see a huge eye, so I wouldnt go in there, if I were you. Who knows, if you can get outa there again :) Lovely shot of a strange wall... :)

the dark, yet delicate, gate is in such contrast to the large, solid, white walls. the wall needs some repairs but the hanging pot of flowers seems healthy and well tended. a nice find, this is an interesting photo.

You filled the criteria very well with this great image. It has light, and the walls inhibit my view. I love walled gardens and this one looks intriguing beyond the gate, it draws me into wanting to go and take a peak through the gate. Excellent work with the finish too. :)

I like the unusual mint green color scheme you used here. When I first looked at it, that hanging plant with the arched wires over it looked like an eye to me...

It gives a sense of privacy, but it also makes me imagine that I know the woman who lives here quite well. She is a friend, and I am accustomed to walking up to that gate with confidence, unhooking the bungie cord and pulling the gate open, and replacing the hook. Perhaps I've bought her a new bungie cord, since I know she'll never get the mechanism fixed.
