Description

Hello dear Friends! Boy - did I miss you all! It is now just about a year ago that I last uploaded and what a year it has been. In a nutshell - I went on a fantastic holiday with my brother to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park here in South Africa / Botswana, we had another armed robbery at my old house where my son was held at gunpoint less than a week after my return, I eventually sold that house and bought a tiny new house in a security complex with 24 hour guards etc., went on a marvelous two week break to my son in the UK over the past Christmas period taking my eldest son and granddaughter along and here I am... getting ready for my next holiday that starts on 9 March! I browsed through the gallery now and just seeing the old names and your lovely art already filled me with joy. I'm hoping to be here more regularly to share my pics and admire yours. This image was taken in the Kgalagadi in March 2017 - a sighting that every visitor to the Park dream of - a black maned lion on top of a red Kalahari sand dune! This fellow was very far but my new Tamron 170-600mm lens came in very handy! Good to be back! Carin x

First Denise and now you. It's been a banner week! Glad to hear that you and your family were unharmed.

This is a cracking shot. That Tamron is quite a lens, isn't it?

I'm sorry for all your travail, and I hope things go more smoothly and peacefully for you in the future. It is always sweet when you come back. This shot must be seen full size to get the full impact of it, because that lion really makes its statement when we see the fullness of the surrounding area. It sits majestically amidst brush and parched soil; and its soft mane and quite gaze makes it feel like lord of the entire landscape---it doesn't have to move for anyone, nor worry. And a big flat beautiful blue sky to match...A big-feeling image of a solo creature. Beautiful work, Carin.
