Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Nice capture Andrea. It is good to hear that the stonework is protected.

Its a pity more new buildings don't have beautiful detail.

Glass and steel can be attractive if done right but most modern buildings lack the character of these older structures. Nice capture. Good to hear that Bournemouth values protects its treasures.

a beautiful detail that seems to be missing from our more modern structures

'Bournemouth is not an old town, first founded in 1810'....well in Australia that's old. Whilst we have remains of Aboriginal stone houses that date back thousands of years, our oldest Western buildings are from the 1790's. So 1810 is old for me!! Elizabeth Farm below.

We are in Savannah, Georgia, right now (est 1733), and are enjoying seeing many historic buildings. They have preserved a 2-1/2 square mile area in which any new buildings have to blend in and be of the period. Fascinating place! We went twice around in the tourist trolley just to hear more than one tour guide’s spiel. Uneven sidewalks mean I’m seeing more ground than I am architectural details, but we take walks where we just meander and stop a lot. Your bank detail is just my thing. Wonderful shot!
