The Douglas A-3 "Skywarrior" (nicknamed "The Whale") was the first twin engine jet nuclear bomber, and the heaviest aircraft carrier based operational aircraft. It operated for a while as a conventional bomber during the Vietnam War, and then served as a carrier based aerial tanker, recon platform, and electronic warfare aircraft. It served both the US Navy and US Air Force from 1956 to 1991. Interestingly, the AD3/A3/B-66 was designed by Ed Heinemann of A-4 Skyhawk design fame. (The B-66 was the USAF version.) "The Whale" is an apt name for this aircraft carrier behemoth. AD3/A3 Skywarrior model by Gunpoint3D (no longer with us) with modifications and texture tweaks.
