Description
Baby Spitfire as its known by those in the know. As 'pure' as you can get. Retro Restored to be as near to 'new' as can possibly be.
Own by once again, The Fighter Collection, Duxford. This is in the scheme of 71 Sgn 'Eagle Sgn'.
This aircraft flew in The Battle Of Britain Film. But, was built in 1941 missing the actual battle.
I shall be attending the last Duxford Show in September it is planned to be the largest EVER RAF attended show there. Most of the current aircraft are listed to attend, including an RAF Lightning II. Also up to 22 Spitfires (yes that's 22!!!!)
As a side note I thank you remembering me and yes its been very hard to return here after another bad event in my life. But IF any of the folks who know me in the U.S are near the USAF Museum around 23rd - 27th Sept THIS year, I'm there.. Yes I'm returning finally ... Mail if you can meet?
This photo (and others) is possibly THE finest Spitfire shot I've ever taken. and its NOT the best from Legends this year! Check the rivets!

My favourite of all the "Mk's" . Interesting you should mention the film "The Battle of Britain", I saw one of the Hurricane miniature models used in the film for sale recently for £24,000.

Really a pristine shot, Rob! One thing of note here, I noticed that the flaps are extended to like 90 degress? Wow, I didn't think a plane could fly with flaps at such an exteme setting. They are rather small in area so maybe that is the reasoning behind the necessity. Thanks again for the wonderful photo!

Yes you were missed, sorry for your pain. Lost our swordfish pilot at the local, old age took him. Sad the heroes that made our world are going I hope they found their elysium.

Rob, great shot of an elegant plane.

Great shot mate. It's great seeing you around here again. I would meet you in the US but I'll be on a road trip around Tasmania at the time!

Fantastic!

Excellent shot of the Supermarine Spitfire, with its propeller blurred, I assume as the aircraft is coming in for a landing. I don't travel anywhere beyond 18 miles due to my very advanced age. I don't know how many times I've watched the wonderful The Battle of Britain movie, and never get tired of it, except for Robert Shaw's turtleneck sweater/shirt, and the Polish chitchat.

The color, the drama, the heroism held in check-- it's landing.
