Description

An old mnemonic to remember that a red running light indicates the port side of a ship. We are preparing to board the vessel and taking a peek at the bridge. The nuclear symbol tells you there is something very different about this ship... the lack of a funnel is another hint. One thing I find interesting about SAVANNAH is that the design is very yacht-like. It suggests speed. However, that is not really the case. A sedate 21 knots with maximum 24 knots is well below what conventional ships were capable of. However, the fact that this was a proof of concept freighter - passenger ship probably put speed requirements at the end of the wish list. She just had to work and look good doing it. That empty hoop on the front of the mast was a part of the looking good part. I will explain later when we visit the bridge. Time to enter the purser's lounge and be welcomed aboard. Enjoy; thanks for viewing. Further proof that white ships on overcast days turn blue in photos. Bringing everything up to white was a wash... washout.
