Description
For many years there has been a lot of talk about Global Warming and
Greenhouse Effect. So I imagined our planet as undergoing something like a
distillation. Distillation is a dissolution process followed by coagulation.
It is an alchemical process, both chemical and moral and spiritual. But
working on this initial idea, further reflections have inevitably been
added.
Firstly, it is good idea to remember that behind the doctrine of
Global Warming there is not only science but also scaremongering and
political mystification. Our planet is naturally subject to warmer or colder
periods. Some cycles cover thousands or tens of thousands of years, others
even millions. The world is constantly changing, Nature is adapting... and
man does not! Humanity has basked in false security, wanting to consider
almost immutable, almost immovable, the world in which it lives. There is
geological evidence but beyond academic knowledge, pragmatic (and greedy)
humanity wants to ignore it. Man wants to dominate the elements, regardless
of how much he is at the mercy of them.
And here comes a moral discord. Greed, arrogance, egocentricity and
anthropocentrism dominate the scene. Even religion is continuously deviated
and interpreted on the basis of the lowest desires and will of men. Every
day the deviated will and the laws of men arrogate rights on the world and
on life, regardless of the choice of Nature or God (however you think). No
surprise if we are always dissatisfied and unhappy, and ultimately damned.
The ecosystem of planet Earth is being progressively dissolved by
the arrogant and senseless exploitation of men. Do you really think that to
plant a few dozen or a hundred trees after destroying entire forests, can
remedy the damage and also absolve one's own consciousness?
In fact, today we are all witnesses - and in some way participants,
accomplices - also of a social, moral, and spiritual dissolution. We have
questioned, and often rejected, millenary moral and cultural values. Social
and economic relativism destroy the family, the fundamental respect for life
that has been given to us (but that we do not possess it!) and for the
world, which is our home, the only place where we can live.
Dissolution of the world, of our society and, ultimately, of our
souls. Where will all this take us?
In Nature everything is recycled. Dissolution is followed by
coagulation, using the alchemical language. But man cannot go through this
process unscathed. If the Earth and humanity dissolve, matter and energy
(and also our souls) will be reused, taking other forms. But it won't be us
anymore.
Will we tell our children about this? Is that all if we are able to
do?
Some technical notes. Two important alchemical elements were used in
the picture above: the alambic, of course, and the famous Porta Magica
(Magic Gate) which is located in a square in Rome, Italy.
The alembic is due to the civilization of Pyrgos, on the island of
Cyprus. Recent excavations have brought to light a laboratory for the
production of perfumes and other distillates from 1800 BC.
About the Porta Magica in Rome, it would be too long and complex. It
would be appropriate to go and read at least the page of Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porta_Alchemica
For those who understand Italian (or with the help of translators) it would
be better to read the page in Italian language that is wider and more
detailed:
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porta_Alchemica
Even just mentioning here about alchemical science is obviously
impossible. On the Web you will find many dedicated websites and texts to
download, but even in this case you would need a basic knowledge to better
select the valid material from other less appropriate content.

Nice to see you again :) Interesting, creative and thought-provoking artwork and commentary you have presented us.
The issue of global warming is thorny. Yes, the earth has gone through numerous cycles of climate change with some of those changes punctuated; however, the science is sound: there is a direct and indisputable correlation between the current warming and the industrial revolution. It is Man's greed/materialism and egocentricity that will ultimately lead us into ruin, and I do truly believe that whatever is attempted to mitigate the current warming of the planet will be too little and too late. Earth will survive, but most life, as we know it, will not--life forms that can adapt quickly will survive in some form or another, but I rather doubt the human species will be able to adapt in a timely fashion.

Excellent image to compliment strong words and vice versa. I agree and understand the Earth, at this stage, warms and eventually cools to the point of another glacial period, but it's too bad humans cannot agree that our technological advancements come at the cost of speeding up this process. Another question looms on the horizon. If we as humans do not change what we are doing will we upset the balance of warm to cool. While the Earth and many animals may survive such a catastrophe, our mammalian species might just go extinct through our own doing. Should humans survive such a change, then it will likely be at the expense of other life on the planet. Sorry to add politics to this, but that is inevitable. When the dictators, fanatics, haters and Trumpsters of the world finally move on or see the light, maybe then we can have real change.
