Never had any of those creepin around my place, a scrawny Mountain Lion once but lots of Coyotes and hordes of ever pesky Jackbabbits.

great capture and a beautiful cat.when I lived in California, I would walk up a mountain and then run down mostly. once a Bobcat was right in front of me while I was running. I do not know who was more startled. then once I was running again and a rattle snake was in my path and luckily I was able jump clear of it.

In Massachusetts??? I must be really out of it, 'cause I've been through all of that (great) state, and I don't ever recall seeing a bobcat! But then, you got mountains running through central and west MA (and in neighboring NY), so yeah, you could have bobcats. I assume you had little time to capture this, but your natural eye probably sensed it: a wonderful harmony between the cat's coloring and the dried stalks behind. And fine sharpness too...and you caught the cat with mouth open...feral. Really fine photo, Barb, even moreso considering you must not have had a lotta time. And I'm stunned that these creatures are moseying around your backyard! I read some of the comments, and apparently some of your fans had heavy experiences with animals-in-the-wild. (We have deer here---and some pretty argumentative squirrels---but that's about it.) I wonder if your cat wanted to say 'hello'. (Whazzupp!!!) Stay safe out there!

Considering the amount of time you had, this is such a terrific capture. I wouldn't publicize it too much because some gun happy macho dimwit might decide to hunt down this beautiful creature to make it trophy. It seems species more common in western US are making their way east...we had overly, incorrectly maligned coyotes in mid-Hudson valley (give me a coyote over a human any day)...

Beautiful capture! They used to visit here to eat my guinea fowl and peacocks. I still thought they were beautiful. I haven't seen one in a while.

Magnificent creature, but better in your backyard than mine.

Beautiful photo of this magnificent cat. Before it got so hot and humid, I had been walking in the morning and evening time, and often I would spot the one that hangs out near where I live.
