Description
The Nakajima A6M2-N "Rufe" fighting-floatplane ,based on the successful Mitsubishi A6M "Zero", was introduced into service with the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1942 .Envisioned as aerial defense for amphibious operations and for remote bases, it was used very effectively, among other missions, to harass allied PT boats at night by dropping illuminating flares in their proximity, making them vulnerable to IJN destoyer gun batteries. The "Rufe" was used extensively as an interceptor, fighter-bomber, and close-range recon aircraft in the Pacific Theater, finishing its career defending the Japanese mainland at the end of the war.
Beautifully detailed A6M2-N "Rufe" model by motokami-ya, no longer available on Rendo, some texture modifications.
IJN Mogami by MaxRomash (Creative Commons/sketchfab), some texture mods.
Models set up or modified in Cd4, PoserPro, Vue6Infinite; composed, lighting, some texture modifications, and render in Vue6Infinite; finished in Ps CS3.

Excellent render! I wonder how much the floats affected it's speed and maneuverability?.

A lot of drag. It significantly reduced performance, but remember, the A6M was a great design to start with.
