Description

The Type 2 featured an inserted core that was dedicated to accommodation. Ablative and plate armour and increased CIWS were also added. The Bussard collector was increased in size to make it more effective at low orbit speed and two rapid fire bow chasers added, increased rate of fire was achieved by purging the guns with liquid Nitrogen, despite design intention to extend this to all the batteries the civilian procurement authority disregarded the improvement as too expensive. Perhaps in a wry recognition of the way the battleships were not being used the forward facing phased array radar was dropped Plans to retro-fit the Type 1's were dropped in favour of producing more Type 2's, the difference in living conditions was such that the Type 1 became regarded as a punishment assignment.
