Description
Continuing the theme of water spirits...
The Sithnides were Naiads, nymphs of the springs and fountains of the city of Megara in Attica (about 20 km west of Athens). They were so greatly venerated that their fountain was surrounded by a magnificent enclosure of columns, as noted by the historian Pausanias, writing in his "Description of Greece" in the second century.
