Description
You know how characters in the MP are kind of expensive? It's because making those little buggers is HARD. I thought I would make my own La Femme and the morph part was easy peasy and the texturing is ..not fun. And I even started out with a base skin by twiztedmetal. There are a lot of little parts, and it's not helped by the fact that I make mistakes..if you look closely, you can see the texture template on her fingers. Sigh. So the people who make nice characters? Those people are geniuses.
Anyway, this is Lili, who can model things like OOT's Valentina Lingerie--which like all of OOT's things, is very, very nice.

Great work on this character. Stick with it and do not get discouraged. Most things are hard when you first start doing them. After a while, well things can still be hard. But you get addicted and do not mind it so much. LOL

Yeah most things in 3D are hard when you start doing them and character development is no exception. The more you persist the easier it gets. You will eventually develop techniques that speed things up for you and every error you make will teach you something useful. Keep a it, your work is better than you seem to think.

I can well imagine it takes a LOT of time and work to create a character, no matter what base figure is used. I've done a fair bit of retexturing - mostly on props, but some figure stuff as well. It takes a lot of time, patience, skill, and talent to get it right. Indeed, after all that work, I can see why some figures are a little pricey. And when you compare it with what a good CG rig will set you back, they're really pretty reasonable.
I've been watching my DVD collection of the animated Star Wars "Clone Wars" series, and I enjoy seeing the 'behind the scenes' stuff included on the disks.. Dave Filoni and his crew do all the rigging, texturing, animating, props, atmospherics, mat paintings, and everything else. Truly fascinating..
