BIO I'm an illustrator, and for the last 15 years I have been doing almost exclusively digital work--mostly covers for e-books and small presses; fantasy, SF and Paranormal Romance covers are my specialty. I use Poser, Photoshop and Painter, and a nifty little paint program called ArtRage. I have been lucky enough to have work shown on the BBC's The Sky at Night, done promotional artwork for the Hugos, and have digital art tutorials published in Michael Burn's Femme Digitale and Digital SciFi Art (Watson-Guptill 2004) as well as DVD covers, cd covers and e-book covers, most recently for Liquid Silver Books, Edge/Tesseract and Dragon Moon Press. I'm also a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists. . When I have time, I do acrylic paintings for fun.
Commissions: I do 3d texturing and backgrounds now rather than book covers, and I do appreciate a good UV template to work on. Thanks for checking out my bio!

Super image!!! What version of Poser are you using? I found 11.3.816 better than previous versions.
lwperkins
That might be it--I need to upgrade to the newest version! I was putting it off because I was in the middle of texturing :D <3

you've made her look pretty darn cute here... like the suit's texture, too... but i am so digging the background from these past two posts... i need to get to a beach, too...
lwperkins
It's summer! Probably one of the safest places you can go, too as long as it's not swarming. A mask means no burned nose, too :D Thank you too!

Very pretty girl and beautiful illustration !!

Your new image is wonderfully done, I wish you a good start into the new week, stay vigilant and healthy!

Can't think of a good reason to use Superfly when Firefly provides more artistic control (and better art) in less time. What does photorealism have to do with art anyway. People don't go to art galleries to look at photos.
lwperkins
I have a good card so the render times are pretty even--and I really like how Superfly does shiny things--metal, glass, reflections etc. But if Firefly does what you want, keep with it! There is much in knowing a tool so well you can concentrate on art instead of tech.
eekdog
make me want to throw one or three on the grill. nice render.

I scored a pack of hot dogs from my milk delivery guy (of all things) and I was so happy. I miss Portillos! No buns but we made do :D Thank you too!
Madbat
Yup, that there is a hotdog all right! I keep forgetting about all of Mapps stuff buried in several of my runtimes. It's hard to keep track of all the little fiddlybits he throws in.
Try setting pixel samples to 30? I've read on the old SM forums (among all the squabbling) that default value of 20 gives grainy renders, 30 is an improvement and 50 samples is the practical maximum. From what I'm reading Superfly takes a long time on better settings.
lwperkins
I'm going to try that--default is actually 3 and I have it at 8--I suspect it's the light and I need to grab more in the indirect light passes or one of the light settings. I know DS gets unhappy without enough virtual light. My card does pretty well but once the covid fun goes away I may see if I can get another laptop with a newer Nvidia card. /neeerds

It looks like the perfect summer holiday! I'm hoping that Renderosity will bring out a comprehensive 'how to' guide for superfly. It's probably amazing if I could ever work out how to use it. The cycles engine is amazing so superfly should be too!
lwperkins
It has all these material panels I have never used! I need to read up on it more. It does come with a bit of a pdf but probably the Blender tuts would go into more depth. So much fun stuff :D

Great character and render!

Delightful and fun scene!!!

I love that she's all glammed up to show us a hotdog! Of course, I'm not sure how many eyes will linger on the hot dog, given who's holding it :-) But it does look like a nice hot dog!

Nice job
STEVIEUKWONDER
Nice hot dog but I'm not hungry! I am however enamoured with your lovely lady!
lwperkins
Thanks everyone! I am hoping to clean up these suit and put them up as a freebie by the end of the week! have a happy and safe one!

Indeed, she does have a very nice hot dog..... Dang - now I'm hungry....
Super work on this yummy scene, Lynn!
Yep - I have several of those sets, and they are jam-packed with goodies.. Can't go wrong with Mapps and Richard's sets. I've used them a lot in the T.N.A. story..
