Description
This is Lola's teacher at university. She's a professor of fashion design. She's a stern woman, and doesn't tolerate slackers. She is rather fond of Lola, though, because Lola comes in every day and works her hardest. It's hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that get you ahead in the fashion business. She's slightly disapproving of Lola's cosplay activities, seeing it as a "waste of talent."
I was going to do a scene illustration, but I think just having her portrait would work even better. So I think this one will make it into the final book. That's pretty cool.
Setup was dead simple. I added a cylinder behind her and applied a red shader from the "Monochromatic" shader set, along with a bump map. Then I added a spotlight and turned off the HDRI dome. A bit of fiddling with the parameters on the light, and then hit render. It renders nice and fast, which is great since my last render was still going at 13 hours and I noticed a problem with it. :(
As always, thank you for comments. I hope you like. The goal was for her ot be an older woman, darker skinned, with a regal/stern bearing. How do you think I did?

Indeed. I am glad that comes across. I'm really liking how this portrait turned out, for such a simple set up. Might have to try simpler setups for future character portraits, too.

Honestly I think you absolutely nailed her look and stern, no BS bearing. She has definitely been around the block more than a few times - and it shows. She'd be a hard one to study under, but once done, I suspect her students would be in demand.

Pay attention at the back there! Go to the head for a dose of the cane! Hahaha! Those were the days! She's awesome! I like this very much indeed! I got caned at school, but not because I was naughty, just because teachers liked to set an example! I'm serious! I never in my whole time at school and beyond, did anything to warrant corporal punishment!

I was put in detention for reading too much.
Also got in trouble for writing too much. Handed in a 15-page report. It was 5-page minimum. Got an F for it.
I think teachers mistrust students that don't act up.
