Description
In my quest to make sure I so some love to every model in my runtime, I present to you "David 5."
I had this odd idea. I needed a male model. For some reason I reached way back to David 5. The initial vision took shape - originally I just wanted to figure out how to do some sort of cyber eye. As I worked, a picture took form. Different elements locked into place, all of it as if by magic. Where does the art come from? Does anyone know? I just had this idea about an eye, and this is what took form.
In titling it, I was reminded of villains from such stories as *Ghost in the Shell* or *Alita.* Strange cyber-beings that always looked as if they were having way too much fun. It wasn't what I went into the piece with, but it is what took shape.
Lots going one. Two separate spotlights. Emissives on the serpent, on the gun, in the eye. Volumetric cube to give that nice "godray" effect. I took the time to get the boots *just so* instead of just moving the camera a bit. I took the time to dial in every part of this expression, instead of dialing in from a preset. The outfit was chosen almost at random. Genesis has that great ability to be posed with gen4 poses, which helped with the serpent since the poses for it were for good old Vicky 4. Genesis also has that neat feature of being compatible with clothing of both genders. He didn't look quite right without a top, and I needed something just a little... strange. That was provided by "Sci-fi Bunny for Genesis." The gun is for a new generation, but that just meant it needed less work. I find a lot of gen5 props lack good initial placement, and often need a helper prop to get positioned. This shotgun snapped nearly to where it needed to be, and gave me a nice start position to get the fingers sorted. Not that you can see them. But they are sorted.
And for all the hard work, very little was needed in post. Slight color adjust, slight sharp adjust. Then export to jpg and here we are.
I hope this inspires a story or two. Perhaps you're playing a sci-fi TTRPG and need a good villain. Perhaps you just need something to spark a story. In any case, feel free to use it. I got no qualms. I had no idea this is what I would be rendering today.

Your reference to 'Alita' means Alita, Battle Angel, by any chance. I just watched that movie at the suggestion of my grandson. I wasn't disappointed. Loved it. This is one wild and creepy looking character and scene. Your reference to 'going back to David 5' really struck my funny bone. I'm still advanced to only David 3 and will no doubt remain there. I still use him occasionally as you many notice if you scan my gallery. And M4 is a far as I go in the Daz guys. M4 and V4. Me a Poser guy. You know the drill.

Lol, yeah. I got an Aiko 3 hanging around I've loaded once. Hard to justify picking up much for her, though.
And yeah. Alita: Battle Angel was a great film. They had some serious talent working on that. I keep hoping they'll do a sequel. There's a ton of additional material for them to draw upon. Plus, would be nice to dig into Edward Norton's character a bit more.

I remember David. I liked him so much better than Michael 3. I love the “God rays”, and hope I can learn to do them in DAZ Studio. This scene has the right atmosphere for something strange to happen......well executed, and your muse led you in the right direction with this one.

Thank you. I don't believe I've seen a David 6 or newer, and I think its sad to think the line wasn't continued. Seems like only Vicky, Mike and Aiko have been persistent through gen 3, afaik.
A little research shows they did make a David 3 morph for genesis, so that's cool. I rather like his chin!
