What a grabbing, strange and mysterious image! The man looks like he's been suddenly interrupted---by either a strange living chair, or a creature (it looks like a horse from a prehistoric cave painting, or a picasso)...and the two are separated by this strangely grass-like background, with all kinds of strokes and etches, in greens and muted browns and beiges, etc. Also, I love the posture on the man---he's sitting, but almost ready to pop up; and his face and tie (tie?) are a sunset gold. A real mystery, like we turned around and saw this moment, and we know it's fraught with something, but we'll never know what...I love this piece.
