Description

Since she's so new, I thought perhaps to provide another look at this character. Normally I wouldn't upload a test like this, but... I make an exception today. Because Khemsit is beautiful. Look at that skin! Here I used the sun-sky to light it up naturally. Got her dressed, placed an environment. Ten minutes to completion once I hit the render button. Now, if i were to actually develop this scene? Her sword is totally in the wrong hand. The sheath is on her right hip, which means she'd have to draw with her left. I'd fix that. I'm sure I'd find other things to tweak. I'd lament yet ANOTHER PAIR OF HEELS with an otherwise fantastic outfit. SERIOUSLY FOLKS! I kill for good boots that don't have heels on them for fantasy/pirate/general renders. A tip to vendors: PLEASE, at the very least, offer a heel-less version of your boots! You got no idea how many outfits I pass on because I don't want my girls stumbling around, swinging their swords while trying to stay balanced on stilettos. I can forgive boob armor - sometimes. But high heels in fantasy art have GOT to do. Ok. THAT rant is over. Had to start my commission render over. :( I didn't realize it before, but the pose I loaded on the character was the wrong one - the one I put together that is full of serious clipping. I thought I had saved her with a better pose. I thought I had selected that save file. Alas... And I didn't notice until almost 16 hours into the render. Then the second character had awkward hand placement on his gun. The cat in the background wasn't blurry enough to get away with not loading the hair on it. The puddle prop had splashes in it. Like, how did I miss ALL this? (HAHA, I know, i know. Maybe I should try sleeping. Lol) Well, I'll fix it tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to blow off steam and do something else for a bit. At least now I know it's going to be a LONG render. Bes to leave it to tomorrow anyway, after I do my Mechwarrior Online drops with my guild. Where was I? Right. Khemsit. She's gorgeous, and I needed (sorta) another model for my book, so... I'll be doing a scene illustration with her next. I got an idea of what I want to do, but not entirely sure how I'll pull it off. Expect to see me on Twitch later, giving it a go! Thanks for having a look. And really. Take a good look. Her skin is just DIVINE, and I love her face. And if she looks this good with just a quick render, imagine how she'll look when you've really spent the time to get to know her? One last note: She's quite short. (I love short) so if you're expecting yet another 6 foot model from the Daz store, be forewarned. I put her next to Fleur and she was dwarfed. She's fun-sized!

Sounds like you're having one of my days...:) I'm forever forgetting to save along the way. She is lovely. Also I've had to buy flat boots separately so a stiletto doesn't get stuck in the wood board floor. I know it's fantasy but save a girl's ankle every now and then. Great test image!

I know, right? And you've got to buy multiple, because you can't have them all wearing the same boots. Almost feels like wasted money to buy an outfit and not use the shoes.

Thanks for your comment!

Looks good. You're right it's fantasy. There where very few woman pirates, they wore men clothing and hoped never to be found out.

I'll never dis someone if they like heels in their fantasy world, but in mine? Sensible shoes win the day.

I think she's more of a swordswoman-for-hire. Don't know - just wanted to try the outfit!

Thanks for the feedback!

I've been blessed to find a few pose packs to work from that are more reasonable than the uber-unbalanced super-model-with-a-foam-sword that was typical when I first started.

Getting the feet to cooperate in tall heels... That's the challenge.

And I sigh for not mirroring the pose so I couod put the sword into the proper hand...

Thanks for stopping in!

Splendid character and pose - and I agree with you about the boots - stiletto heels are most unsuitable for adventurers and fighters.

2:15PM | Mon, 21 September 2020

I get that fantasy art tends towards sexiness - which is annoying when you're trying to find reasonable armor, or clothes that would at least protect from the elements.

Honestly? I've purchased whole outfits with tops/pants I didn't care for because they came with heel-less boots. And I've passed on amazing sets that are beautiful because of super high heels.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully this tips people over into purchasing Khemsit so we see more of her. Diversity ftw!

She is lovely, and so is the image. Agree with you on the sword, bit of a serious error there. Also agree on the boots; in fact, when I made my Fantasy set years ago, I put sandals in the set, not heels. However, heels do seem to sell, which I suspect is why vendors do them!

LyleAryn

2:19PM | Mon, 21 September 2020

See, I'm not sold on that. Because you'll see flat boots sold alone, but rarely heels sold alone.

Imagine if they just gave you two versions of the shoe. With or without. I'd be much more likely to buy because I don't want heels, and the people that are just doing supermodel renders are kept happy too.

I know, more work. But how much more, really? Sure, some shoes are shaped around the spike, but I see several that I think could be adapted fairly easily

But what do I know?

Wow - she does have gorgeous skin, and you really brought it out in this lovely scene!

Yeah, I've run into the boot thing a few times (I should talk, right? The king of showing Girls kicking butt while wearing heels...). They didn't have those special training camps back then for learning how to fight in heels... 😆

Yeah, sleep does help sometimes.... And you have no idea... I probably have at least 10 times the "closet renders" moldering away on a drive somewhere than what's in my gallery here... LOL

LyleAryn

7:53PM | Mon, 21 September 2020

Lol. Yep. Most of my year one stuff will never see the light of day. Unless I go in for a redo. Which I might on a couple.

One I'm working right now. I ran the render, but I don't "love" the result. Going to fiddle with it, because it's "almost." Sure, i could just post and folks will undoubtably like what I've done, but for this one, I have to love it.

I also got another Khemsit render waiting. I meant to run it today while I was editing, but I didn't love the render from last night and I ended up slammed with phone calls. Which is really sweet, because it was people checking in on me. Which is a new experience I'm still not used to.

The TNA girls kick butt no matter the gear. I've got use for heels in more contemporary stuff, but don't have many options there. No real use for it in fantasy stuff, and it seems 9/10 sets AT THE LEAST come with heels. And some just don't work without the shoes, either due to a distinct style or coloration. sigh

Looks excellent to me! :-) You must remember...your test renders are other persons fully finished renders! It all has to do with the inherent degree of individual perfection and skills, that each of us have. I for one struggle to make even the most mundane details, at least appear real, or at very least, abide by the laws of preexisting physics. You are an excellent artist, with a no more demanding customer than yourself! I am here to cheer for you, every step of the way! Have a great weekend! Stay safe! :-)

I have to say knife fighting in heels and skimpy outfits is not something I would advise. I looks damned hot but lets face it. Your only real chance is to charm your adversary with your hotness.

Ok. Ummm... I'll make myself a note to check and send you a PM. I'd check now, but DAZ is busy rendering and doesn't let you open up the program more than once anymore. :( I know it defaults to standing up more, but had a nifty morph to reshape it as seen here.
