Description

This is the third version of this in the last couple days. It started as an attempt to use Art De Croh's neat Future Borg set. Then... I had an idea. I wondered if I could do something that was "Cyber Gothic" instead of "Cyber Punk." This is the end result. The first render, I had forgotten to change the default skin for the Borg. I had also forgotten that the base Gen8 skin is a far cry from what's available now, lol. Then i thought to add a scar. And another. Not too many. The first and second renders were from over the human's shoulder. She didn't have makeup. She had a different outfit. Fun fact: If you put a gal in the Bella Chic outfit, don't forget to run dForce. My first and second renders, I had the comment that her butt looked big. It also looked kinda natural, like a Kardashian caboose. Which I don't care for but since I thought it was part of the model, I didn't really want to change it. I hadn't run Lali before, so I figured she just had a bigger-than-normal posterior. Well, i wasn't liking Bella Chic because it was more Victorian than Gothic. So I swapped over to Lully's Flirtatious. Ran dForce... and felt like an idiot when she came out all slim. Two renders before I noticed. They took about four hours a piece, so that's not too bad. I just kept tinkering because it just didn't have a very Gothic feel yet. Makeup was applied. I dipped into one of the Scarred sets from Shana Soulmate. Then I got to work on lighting. Moved a camera to give us a sideview. I was initially reluctant to do this because you can't see the other side of Future Borg's head with that radical reshaping. But the goal was no longer to show off Future Borg, but to reach a good Gothic feel. Little details were added. Wings would be too much, but wing earrings add that bit of ethereal romance. A red rose had no place, but a little bit of red glow gives us the color to hit those notes. Pulling deep from the Gothic playbook, but also breaking some of it's rules. Honestly, I was wary about the jewelry because originally I thought to have the human girl represent this sort of flawlessness. No makeup. But that was a different art direction. I needed more from this piece, so Lali transformed into a more Gothic character. (I hope.) The lace was transparent, so she's wearing the excellent Innocent Underwear panties underneath, but the bra is left from Bella Chic because I liked the strappiness. Our cyber girl is wearing a cyber girl skirt, but I've adjust the color to grey to fit a more Gothic color scheme. Changed a few surfaces to a gloss black, and added the red glow. Before I forget. The pose is from Aeris' "One Love" set, modified just a bit. I think I'll end up with all of Aeris' pose sets eventually. Even if I often have characters of very different sizes, they provide an excellent starting point. Set is the old "The Asylum: The Room" that came with Daz studio. I was trying to keep my memory size down. I think it works. Lighting is from the overhead lamp, tweaked to just the right amount to not compete too much with the "moonlight" effect I think I managed quite well. No postwork. Just convert from tif to jpg, and ready to post. I spent a lot of time getting those colors right, and I don't want to mess with them. I worked on this for many hours, lol. Ain't that how it goes? Most of the day yesterday, in fact. Considering it started on-stream in the wee hours of the morning. I often stream after midnight when only the Vampires and the Germans are watching. Speaking of. I think I shall stream a bit today. Trying to encourage Mom to take it easy today so I can get a little rest. Yesterday was far too crazy for my tastes. I think if I had sat down and worked on it solidly the whole time, it might have gotten done sooner, but it would be a far different piece. Leisurelly working away over a long period of time allows your thoughts to shift, and the various moods to help carve away the little things until you're left with something cool. At least, that's my belief. Like with writing. Technically, I could write a book every month. But it takes much longer to sculpt away the grit to reveal the story. I don't really sit and plot, I just watch as the events unfold and try to keep up. Adding artistic expression as I go. The characters themselves know what they're about. Have a lovely day, my friends!

Turned out really rather good! Lighting is properly gothic, slightly creepy, and the whole feel puts me in mind of something quite "Clive Barker". Little hints of the Cenobites from Hellraiser, with a touch of Weaveworld...

I like this a lot!

Excellent and edgy. I love both. The characters and the lighting rock. Your adventures with dForce are hysterical. I would not have thought that lack of dForce is like having 20 cameras on you at once. You know, "does the camera make my butt look big?"

This is wonderful, my friend - and you certainly captured the cyber-goth feel you worked so hard to accomplish. Superbly done! It's great to read all your trials, changes, and the creative flow that led to this beauty. Excellent as always!

Thank you! It's fun taking the trip back through my head and remember the work that went into a piece, too. I'm just glad that folks seem to enjoy that part of my posts. So often I look at a piece and wonder, "How did they do that?!"

I suppose that means I'd be a terrible illusionist.

Thank you. I was hoping to get just the right touch of romance. With the lady holding herself, and the cyborg reaching out to her. True love never dies, or so I believe.
