Description
Another illustration for the book! I meant to work on something else when I sat down, only I suddenly felt just how close we are to October. I hope to release October 23rd. I need more illustrations! Especially for Lola's chapters. So I loaded her up in my viewport.
Waiting on inspiration. Flipping through my printout.
There's a scene where Lola receives a hammer blow. She's pulled aside by her professor, and questioned. It seems the modeling student that had so suddenly canceled on her filed a report with the school.
Lola's just trying to hold it together long enough to reach Lenny.
Sometimes I wish I could just fast forward through the series. Lola has so much crap come down on her in this first book, on top of still suffering from her past abuse. I know there's good things ahead for her. But I can't skip forward. The story has to unfold as it goes. I suppose, those happy things ahead wouldn't mean as much if you didn't know the full story.
Speaking of... As if I weren't putting myself in enough of a crunch, I decided to write a couple new chapters. There's a transition that isn't very smooth, but it afford me the opportunity to flesh things out further. Most of the book just has this fantastic pace, yet there are still a couple things I wanted the book to have in it. Rewrites can be tricky! I hope to get through this fairly quickly, and hope that not only do I get to put in those missing things, but also make that one transition not seem so abrupt.
Of course, that also means more illustrations... You might be seeing quite a few in a row, my friends. Hope you don't mind. I'm feeling that pressure that tells me I've got to get this done.
So, I have this "High School Hallway" set. I started to set it up, but then remembered that I purchased it for scenes in the book that would be flashbacks to High School. I spent some time looking through the Daz store to replace it with something else. Only I eventually realized I could at least try recoloring it first. After all, hallways aren't unique. No reason why I couldn't use the same set for more than one location. There's still some blue showing through in a few places, mainly on that back wall. I imagine it's chipped paint. I kind dig it, for this scene. Like, an additional layer to the whole thing.
I set up TWO of the "Epic Godrays" props. As well as a spotlight. In addition to the overheard mesh lights.I was also careful to hide both windows, one behind Lola, and one ahead of the frame. (Technically, both windows are behind her in relation to her position in the hallway, but you know what I mean. The angle would place the second one "ahead" of her.)
I like the high-tops with the nice dress. Lola to a T! Actually, the dress was a bit more sheer at first. I didn't think it was so bad until I realized I was clearly seeing her panties in the preview. (She prefers men's briefs. Likes how they feel.) I knew if I rendered it, not only would it end up being indecent, it was also not anything she would ever actually wear. Luckily one of the presets was nice and opaque! I didn't use the matching bolero because it was just a little too fancy for this particular scene. The idea is that she quickly put together this dress so her best friend wouldn't be the only one, a show of solidarity. So I had to keep it simple. She had less than three days to get it all done, plus the alterations to her final so it would fit Lenny.
I love their friendship in this book.

P.S. I was going to do something more of a portrait to show off the dress and such. It really is very nice, and she looks so good in it. Maybe when I get a few more illustrations done.
P.P.S. I'm going to start posting some of my older renders to Deviantart. Ones I haven't posted here. I didn't want to put them here because I felt it would be a bit jarring, considering how much better I've gotten with the software over this past year alone. If you're interested, I'll try to remember to start posted dates in my DA descriptions. So you can see how far I've come. Speaking of - I still got the new version of "Stone Lions" to upload. Planning something a little special for that - so stay tuned!

Thank you! Lola was first born on October 31st, 2018. She's changed a bit since then, but the inner person has only grown. She's had to deal with some pretty traumatic events in her life. Abuse. But she really is a sweet person.

The High tops and that dress, draws you in! It's a very natural pose and fits right in. I enjoyed the background to her story, as you described it! You have a very effective style to go along with your storytelling...I like it! And I don't think you been depressing at all, I think you show the range of emotions that a real and well adjusted person has in this world! Excellent and very well done! :-)

Thank you. That's very kind. I feel like a jerk to my characters sometimes, but every time I try to "disney-fy" them it fights me hard. So I just do my best to tell the stories the right way.
Then sometimes I get all depressing in my comments, and all I really want to do is lift people up.

Ah, story writing... Yeah..... It starts off like you're petting a playful little puppy... And the next thing you know, you have a T-Rex by the tail, and he's dragging you in directions you never expected. Originally I planned on 3 chapters of 10 pages each. Right. 7 chapters and 10+ years later.... 😉

Would I write a book ? Never ! (I wrote law books in the past !!!) but when I make an image there is a story behind it...it's not just an image. The story behind your images is captivating (even if I sometimes need to open my Harrap's shorter !) but your images are even more captivating because we can create our own story. great job, no doubt.

Cool, Lyle. I wish I had the commitment to stick it out when writing and I could complete something, but I get so distracted with other competing interests. How do you stay focused, committed and finish what you start? I have activities always vying for my attention like creative writing, c# programming, making a beat in FL Studio, Daz Studio art, building a big factory in Satisfactory game and other little things, that pull me and toss be about where none of what I do ever gets done. ...well except when I do art, that seems to be an exception.
I like what you wrote here, giving a morsel about Lola. Its like a tease. Its something that perks the reader's interest to find out more about Lola and what problems she's going through. This is what I personally was thinking whilst reading about Lola in the image: How will she solve them? What will she learn? What setbacks will she have? How will she overcome those setbacks? Who will oppose her? Who will hinder her? Who will be there for her when she needs someone the most? Who will stand with her in victory once her goal is acquired and she's grown from experience?

Thanks. I set up a playlist on my Zune and try to get out of my normal environment. Go to a library, the park. etc. I just let the story flow. I don't do outlines. The characters speak, and I listen.
This new book represents the start of a new series. One of my most ambitious projects, with a LARGE cast. Got the first one in editing now, and should be starting the second around the first of next year.
