I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

That's a tasty looking character alright! Random, eh? Maybe I should try that...

I'm comfortable cross-playing, but this new group is mostly strangers. I was going to play a male, but decided to let the dice decide that, too. Did a best 2-out-of-3 odds-evens with the D6... got a 6, 4 and 2. Lol.
Thanks for the feedback. I find the whole character intriguing.
OkrimSlava
cool scene, well done.

Thanks! Her tetsubo was modeled by a good friend of mine.

Try Zweihander :) I think every D&D gamer has tried to create their own system, D&D is the Happy Meal of RGP and sooner or later, you want a sloppy hamburger. For me and D&D, I hate alignment, don't use it, think the DM should define what evil is in the world and build cultural taboos. Oh, rambling...
Great character look and back story. Do 12 questions to help define her, like; why did she become a cleric? Where is her family? Where did she grow up? Where did she train and with who? How did she meet the rest of the party? Your DM should be helping you with this stuff. I enjoy letting the party decide how they meet, they come up with some wild stories.

I've been building this system for several years now. I'm an old hand when it comes to RPGs. It's just been a year to remind me of all the reasons why I don't actually like D&D.

So many great textures in this scene - and I love her hair!!
LyleAryn
Thank you! It took a little doing, but I like how it turned out. I rolled and got "red-violet" for hair color, lol.

Great character and scene!
LyleAryn
Thank you, rb!

Wonderful character and I love the life you breath into them through your writing. I have taken to naming my character's after their Daz or 'Osity' name. Can I say that word here? Well I don't see a flag that I have to set for this comment so I guess it OK. Back to the naming convention, how dull is that? Well the name must mean something to the creator. I would hate to think I was writing about a character whose name came up on a roll of the dice.
LyleAryn
That's like me and Rochelle. I love Rochelle, but decided when she became a character in my book series that I needed to name her something else because maybe FWSA would object to her being a lesbian, lol. So, she became "Rachel." And then Aakash became Amira for the same reasons, only there is an Amira for sale here on 'Osity.
And I don't understand the disdain for Daz I see pop up. I really don't.
I do think some of the names are chosen randomly, though.
Thanks for the comment!

That sounds like a fantastic character. For the addiction, have you considered making her a workaholic? Maybe she has a hard time taking a break from her clerical duties to see to her own needs even when she desperately needs to. That works well with the self-sacrificing aspect of her personality; she takes that to an unhealthy extreme.
LyleAryn
Hmm. That's a good idea! Thanks! I'll consider that my last "random" element. That should actually be a lot of fun to play, too!
Saby55
Amazingly beautiful! Stunning artwork!!! 👍🙋♂️
LyleAryn
Thanks. I really love how her hair turned out.
A_Sunbeam
Great character and detailed story - and she looks ready for a fight! Not into D&D myself - or other fantasy games.
LyleAryn
Thank you. She's always ready for a fight, lol.

Beautiful scene, Happy Halloween
LyleAryn
Thank you, and yess. Happy Halloween!
JohnnyM
Nice render and well worth the effort you put into it! Very well done! Happy Halloween! :-)
LyleAryn
Thanks Johnny! Have a great holiday! Eat all the candy you want - just tell them I said it was ok!
shadownet
Excellent
LyleAryn
Thank you very much!
beachsidelegs
Wonderful image :)
LyleAryn
Thanks! I set up my lighting in an interesting way, with the color temp set to 9k. Then used the auto color enhance tool in GIMP. A bit of an experiment, but I'm sure happy with the results!
PandaB5
Very cool character - I especially like her make-up. Perhaps she's addicted to creating characters for DD games ;-)
LyleAryn
Lol. That's worse than crack! Thanks!

Since I have never been into gaming, I have no idea what you are talking about there. But if I were 50 or 60 years younger, I'd probably be all over it! LOL! You have a great looking character here and a wonderful render! Great work, my friend! Bravo!
LyleAryn
Thanks! I'm going to develop her as I play, rarher than sit down and write out an extensive backstory. I got enough to go off-the-cuff for now.
I'm sure you'd enjoy some RPG-playing.
Nightwind
Great character! Actually computer RPG is part of what got me into Poser. I thought I could make a better character image than what was offered in the games. Then I got hooked on doing the images and textures. So here I am all these years later still striving for a better image than the last.
LyleAryn
The only way to progress, is forward! Thanks for the feedback. Happy Halloween!
miwi
Very tough character, fantastic image, she looks really dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LyleAryn
I figure she wound up on the abyssal plane but then they kicked her out.
jmattatall
Great work on this
LyleAryn
Thank you! I'm glad it has been so well liked so far, my gosh!
RodS
She looks really awesome, good sir! I love her look, really. Super job on her.
I never really got into the whole gaming scenario, for some reason. The last games I played to any extent were Doom and Heretic if that gives you any clue! I did play a little bit of Tomb Raider, but I got poor Lara killed so many times she won't even speak to me now! 😆
It's kind of a bummer it turned out that way for you - those are supposed to be fun experiences.
LyleAryn
Any experience can be fun with the right person, and so the opposite must also be true. I love the role-playing. There's too many voices in my head to write a book for every single one. I'll find my party eventually, and venture forth. Maybe it's just what I needed to finally get my own system done.
Thanks for your kindness, RodS. I appreciate you.
dakotajaroo
nice rendering and beautiful colorimetry
LyleAryn
Thank you. I'ts neat how it worked. I tried a little experiment, and I'm happy with how it turned out. I wanted to see what would happen if I used color enhance on a render that was sorta washed out. I set my spotlights to 9000k temp. And when i hit the color enhance, that hair just POPPED! I think that's a successful experiment!
Madbat
I haven't played D&D or any other RPG in years. I do like what twitch RPGers are doing though. They are all doing it over the internet with streaming tools. That might be a good way to go these days.
LyleAryn
Pretty much! It's a lot to adjust to, though, and I miss the sound of dice as another player rolls.
ikke.evc
Nicely done. Sorry don't play games. I did in the Commodore 64 days, but when i got my firs pc (a used 486 from a friend) i didn't play pc games. Now i got some great machines that would play very nice games, but no time.
LyleAryn
Lol, that's the way it goes! Though you don't need a PC for a role-playing game. But then you go need the right group of people. There are fine folks here I'd love to play a session or two-hundred with.
