Description

Today was my birthday so I indulged myself with a LOT of computer time. It's not completely finished yet but thought I might get some good suggestions by posting. Comments and suggestion always welcome. 1/5 added map shadow

Okay, to start off with I want to say it's a wonderful image, I just have a few picky details. 1) the texture mapping on the globe seems a bit skewed I don't know exactly what's wrong with it but something is. 2) the maps are printed on both sides, shouldn't there only be printing on one side (I don't know, maybe printed on two sides is right. 3) the map on the table appears to be floating, try to put some shadows in. I know this is a bunch of critique, but I really do like this image and think that it can be great with a little work.

Ohh! I just LOVE this .. yes it is certainly worth getting the details perfect because this image has so much feel to it! I love the lighting and for the most part the textures are fantastic.(I guess it is true the maps would not be printed on both sides but I will miss the color it adds .. maybe a really old looking paper texture..) Wonderful image! Hats Off. And one more thing g HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

The only thing that stuck out for me was the lantern. Something about the flame and the glass is off. The flame looks cartoonish and one does not get a feel of real glass there. This is only a minor nit because this is overall one of the best renders I've seen.

I for one have seen maps printed on both sides. If I could do 1/4 this good I would be extremely happy. Textures & coloring are fantastic in this. Please let me know when this is done, this is the best pic I have seen on Renderosity. Thanks. Happy Birthday smile :-)

Very nice. Clean with attention to detail. Nice work. And only for creatives sake do I point out the following; The lower left hand corner of the main map, it needs a bit of a shadow to give it depth. It looks detached in that area, floating over the desk. 9.8 - Well done.

I must say this is an absoulutely amazin image!!! But I'm gonna have to agree with the globe I'm pretty sure it is ur equator lines that throw it off just makes it seem weird. I think you have paid great attention to all of the detailing except the shadowing. Once that is all done I would love to see your repost of the finished image just. Also when placeing the shadowing the objects closer to the light need a very crisp shadow edge and blurrier the farther away. You've done excellent work and HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!

I love this image the attention to detail is superb, and as I can't even do the most simple things in Max I'm in total awe. :-) I love the wood texturing on the desk, it's perfect. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I dont get the post at the bottom but what the hell right? first off, I disagree about the floating table map, I dont know enough about the globe, but anybody that can do this kind of work, is always an amazement to me.

fantastic. Ilike it . But for the text on the book (1836) you should use an older font - a historic one. And the lamp has got something i think its the blue glas around . fire is red- yellow - so the glas should be in this colours to . But the maps are really fantstic. were did you get them from ?
