Description
Aram is a police detective who's original career goal was to become rector of a small town church in his father's footstep. With few if any church posts available, he went into police work instead. More than either his love was for the theater, not so much as an actor but as a stage director. It is the director who employs the skills and talents of the actors to convert a script into an experience that captivates an audience and makes theater the magic that it can be. So Aram dreams.
The art deco theater in the background - it is not far from the mansion - does not really belong here. Perhaps its builder hoped to start a new theater district far from Shaftesbury Avenue where rents are cheaper, but with theater-goers even rarer it never caught on. The building would have met the wrecking ball some time ago were it not for a stock broker who purchased it more as a plaything than anything else. To give it a reason for being, the owner supports a local amateur theater group (to which Aram belongs) that stages plays here several times a year. The owner pays the salary of a professional director while a local board of directors raises money for other expenses. Nobody particularly likes the director but it seems that he comes with the funding that keep the building running.
Note: This is going to be a real mystery and I am already dropping clues here and there. So read carefully.
We are actually ready now to start Part Two by going around to the side of the building and approaching the stage door...
