Description
Leaving the front of the building we walk around to the side where a light is on and we find the stage door. Turell, the building engineer, has unlocked the door and holds it open ready to greet actors and backstage crew for the evening’s rehearsal. It is the first dress rehearsal which means that actors will be in costume with sets, props and lighting. A lot to get coordinated.
As you look through the door you look down the backstage corridor with dressing room doors along the side. At the far end you see the prop box. It looks big enough to contain a person but that is not its intended purpose. After all anything on stage small enough to carry can be considered a prop.
Turell. in addition to keeping the aging theater building running smoothly and minding the stage door, helps out backstage with sets and lighting. He came to England from Jamaica hoping to find a job working in theater so he spends as much time as he can helping our the backstage crew along with his main duty of keeping the building running. Turell knows Aram in his official police role and keeps him informed on what is going on in the local Jamaican community. He calls Aram ‘Boss’ obviously enjoying tjis connection with the detective force.
In the backstage tour which follows you will meet the members to the backstage crew, learn what they do, and pick up some theatrical terminology along the way. At a minimum you should learn the difference between stage left and stage right. As the story unfolds you will come to understand why these details are important. So pay attention. Welcome back to the story.. JM Trey for M4 and L75 casual sweater are from DAZ.
