this has a real "Ute" sense, in the face and beautiful full winter gown of the young woman, and in the spirit of celebration that Ute gets in a lot of her work. The young woman looks like someone out of a 1940's film, a pure face, smiling and a little shy, with a beautifuolly panned out gown...and the muff reminds me of Ute as well. (You don't see muffs much anymore, at least where I live.) And that tree---it's made of feathers! Or close to it...I love its texture. A downy tree! The background is dark green (as if green hasn't disappeared, just receded)...and it's filled with snow and an arc of celestial lights. A fairy tale christmas image for Ute, who creates lots of fairy tale-like images; and it's simple and expressive and delicate. Happy Birthday Ute, and many more! Quiet and beautiful, Barb.
