Description
Finished an aviation silly and still had more energy. so a little more rum, a little more spark and some Faun for ambience and off I went...
As Molly has an interest in steampunk and gothic, I saw a perfect opportunity to set up Sangriart's wonderful Sabellia as Vanessa Green's portrayal of the troubled Vanessa Ives in the gothic series 'Penny Dreadful'. Green near stole most every scene, even when sharing with actors of considerable talent playing well written roles. No matter effed up Vanessa was, you couldn't help but feel for her, even when she likely deserved a double tap to the head. When she suffered her 'beautiful death' it sorta sucked though you knew she was finally at peace.
Here Vanessa reflects after using Sir Malcolm Murray's Mauser Waffenfabrik C96 'broomhandle' pistol to dispatch 'The Dweller' who was pressured into standing in for any number of nasties from the series. He was on sale. Too bad for him...
They made quite a deal of the 'broomie' in the series, and having owned and shot an early example for years, I can testify that at least some of the hype was warranted.
I believe Green has hazel eyes but I went with a blue from one of VYK's options from her 'Marilyn' - another favorite of mine. Vanessa's clothes and hair are Edwardian rather than late Victorian, but they are suitably black and convey what needed conveying. Didn't mess with her dress too much as dforce blew it up on the first attempt (likely my fault) and I was on a roll. Stonemason's base was left alone as well; it needs very little 'out of the box' for most any level of display.
Anyway, it's not what was promised Miss Molly but it's a start..:)

Thanks Saby

really moody diorama with those figures and shadows and nice to see Stonemason's stand in action, it makes you want to make a miniature of your own, excellent work

Thanks paul - The character was already set up for a full scene so plopping her onto Stonemason's base was pretty straightforward, Most of the time was in fitting the pistol to her hand as it's a Poser bit, and getting the creature to lie sorta flat as his shape and joints aren't oriented that way.

Interesting concept!

Good worl on the pick. So where did you aquire the Broomhandle?
jdwtrxk
Thanks angreif. I acquired my broomie at a major antique gun show in the early nineties when their popularity surged from recent imports converted to 9mm. Mine was still in 7.63 and had the full holster/stock except for the cleaning rod which was lost somewhere along the way. Found a decent replacement. The old girl was beautifully made and a a hoot to shoot, though 9mm would have been cheaper.

Thanks 3D - vignette basing is a nice clean alternative to pinups or full scenes with character studies.
gaius
Superb diorama, dramatic and making people imagine a story of theirs...a big bravo.
jdwtrxk
Thanks gaius - was a nice break from fussing over dozens of little props and tight camera angles...

All really good things take a bit of time and effort and it was certainly worth it here, my dear! I had almost forgotten that you were working on this but it's certainly worth waiting for. One of the best steampunk images I've seen all year (and I include my own which, of course, I have a high opinion of XD ). Thank you so much for the work and for the dedication!

My pleasure Molly - wanted you to have a little something toward the bigger scenes which are bogging down on the usual account of setting and prop selection. Getting there - one is a sorta rendition of the parlor in Murray's house where a lot occurred. Vanessa's bedroom was so stark it would be a bore, though quite easy with a bed, a dresser, and a lot of distressed texturing.
We'll get her done.

For sake she shot that ugly creature, well done. Regards Anne

Thanks Anne - it wasn't in his contract...:)
