Argi and Maristela celebrate Valentine’s Day at their favorite upscale pizza restaurant!
==AMY’S NOTES==
These are characters from the graphic novel WIP that was my original inspiration for getting into Poser. I don’t often do such heteronormative scenes, but ever since I got this pizzeria set, Argi and Maristela have been pestering me to send them to dinner there, and with Valentine’s Day around the corner, I figured, why not?
This is by far my favorite of the sets I’ve bought from Blue Tree Studios. It has enough elements to stage a whole bunch of scenes, featuring not only dining guests but also cooks and wait staff! And I actually used the light set that came with it, which I typically don’t do.
Something went kinda wonky with the reflections on the clinking wine glasses, despite trying a dozen or so glass materials. I was hoping for a wine glass effect similar to what I got in Fehn & Vila Survive Christmas 2019, but I just couldn’t get it to work. And rather than spending a few days trying to figure out why, I decided to just let it go (which is something that doesn’t come easily to me but that’s probably a good skill to practice when making 3D art!)
Setting up this scene was also a good reminder to pay more attention to the order I go in when posing. I started with the hands, stupidly, and then of course kept changing the body positions, which moved the hands. Duh!

Looks like they are having a wonderful time. Great posing and expressions

Thank you for the comment! I'm not sure most people hold a wine glass the way Maristela is, but I do! :-)

Thisa isa nice, for some reason the glass materials on props can be weird and like you said having to try different mats. All in all your scene is great and is inspiring me.

Thanks for the comment! I think in this case it might've had something to do with the way the wine glass is UV mapped, so I probably should've just switched it out with one that I know works OK with glass shaders in Firefly. Oh well, next time!

Wonderful scene! Appears those two were given quite the cozy spot for an romantic dinner out.

Thanks for the comment! I'm sure sitting close to the pizza oven has several advantages, including the cozy fireplace feeling and the smell of fresh pizza!

Super image!

Beautiful render!
Glass is the one thing that can make me change a scene. More often than not, drinking glasses ends up looking odd no matter what shader I am using.

Kinda makes me wonder if they should've been drinking beer out of ceramic mugs instead :-) Actually I've gotten some decent renders with glass in Firefly, or at least acceptable for my non-photorealistic style. I'm guessing Superfly is much better with glass as well as metals? I won't be using Superfly any time soon as the Poser 11 version can't use my GPU and I don't want to upgrade my MacBook's OS to the minimum required for Poser 12. But eventually I'll get there!

Really nice posing and composition that gives a feeling of comfort and intimacy to the two characters. Don't know if you are using IK when posing hands and/or repositioning the body, but it can be really helpful. Thank you for sharing your work!

Thanks for the comment, Molly! I don't use IK b/c when I first started using Poser, it was terrible and tended to create more problems than it solved. It might've gotten better recently, but I'm used to posing one dial at a time. I just need to remember not to focus on something like having glasses with hands on them in a particular spot until I've sorted out the rest of the scene!
