Fantastic scene! Great posing and great capture of real feelings.

Thank you, CD. I rather resonate with Gregor even though I am an American citizen with ethnic roots in Eastern Europe. I wanted the image to speak for itself and to be larger than this particular moment in time. A sensitive artist is always responding to all sorts of things beyond the beautiful thing (in this case Dorotea) that has inspired the urge to create.

Your new image looks as always simply beautiful! I wish you a great new week! Made me think of that song: "Melancholy in September"!
MollyFootman
Thank you for the lovely comment, Ute, and for reminding me of the song which I just had a listen to.

Fine scene and pose. The charcoal sketch on the canvas is a fine effect.
MollyFootman
Thank you, Mazzam. I did a separate rendering of Dorotea and messed with it in Photoshop and then used it as a texture on the palate in the image. It took time buy your comment leads me to think it was time well spent. =)

Just outstanding mesmerizing, gorgeous brilliant awesome render. Magnificent Masterpiece of Finest Arts. I love it!
Did you paint the canvas or the painter did it?
MollyFootman
Heh. Well, the image is meant to convey the painter did the image but, yes, I did a separate rendering of Dorotea and messed with it for Gregor. Thank you for the lovely comment. <3

Such a wonderful scene--I'm curious too about the painting--is it a sketch render, partially erased? it's very effective!
MollyFootman
Thank you for your comment. Regarding the image on the easel, I did a separate rendering of Dorotea from Gregor's point of view using the comic book outline in black and white setting for rendering the preview window. Then I took it into Photoshop to erase the background detail and blur and smear the sharp comic book outlines to look more like charcoal or pastel monochromatic sketching. The resulting image was used as a texture on the picture on the easel. I had the idea to use the sketch rendering function and messed with it a bit but got impatient as I was not getting quite the result I wanted.
Sorry to be so long-winded.... >.<

This is really superbly done. Love the drawing on his tablet.
I know how you feel, Molly... My creativity has taken a nose-dive the last couple weeks.
From what I've seen and read, I don't think the common Russian citizen is in favor of this unjust war. They're as horrified as we are.
MollyFootman
Thank you for your lovely comment and encouragement.
Gregor is a character I created and introduced quite some time ago and I felt him calling to me as if to say, "You think you are upset? Think of me!" It's funny how your imaginary creations take on a bit of their own life and speak to you, isn't it?

Very creative and skilled image...so many quality elements to this image and the short narrative, lovely representation i'm sure of many people's feelings from every nation, top notch work...!
MollyFootman
Thank you for what I take to be high praise indeed!
As comments are disabled on images you've been sharing, let me take this opportunity to tell you that I am in awe of the realism you achieve with your automobile pictures; they really have the feeling of fine photography. I always take a bit of time to view them at full resolution. Kudos to 3Dclassic for the creation of the original content but you have clearly done work with materials and lighting to maximize the impact of whatever rendering engine you are using. Therefore, I am officially thanking you for your images which I enjoy viewing and for being a challenge and inspiration to teh Mollz! =)

Powerful image and story, Molly! I think we're all horrified by Putin's descent into power-grabbing madness, and I appreciate messages like yours that remind us of how hard this must be for the Russians who don't support Putin, as well as for the Ukrainians, of course.
MollyFootman
I am not Russian but am American of Eastern European descent. There were Russians in the neighborhood where I grew up and everyone had some degree of pride and allegiance to the countries from which their families had immigrated. That plays out in varying levels of feelings ranging from pride to shame and I wanted to touch on that here.
Fact is, despite my ethnicity I feel a bit sad and distracted much as Gregor is.
As always, thank you for the comment, Amy. I always love hearing from you.

Fantastic! I love it!

Thank you, Cassandra. It helped process and release some feelings of melancholy of my own when I created and shared it. I really appreciate your comment.

A artist with super talented work on his stand . A well composed image Molly.
MollyFootman
Thank you, Steve. It seemed a logical progression from a previous image of Gregor and Dorotea.

Heh. She does not enjoy that nickname. You may recall that my original pictures of Dorotea had her beating up a bully from her childhood named Anzhela Kropuskov. Of all the characters in my little group around Dorotea, her sister Elizabeth and Ghostly Grace, I love Dorotea most... her sister calls her "Tea". =)
Thanks for a comment that made me smile, JD. I always look forward to hearing from you.

a very striking scene and treatment, very artistically done, the kind of thing you'd expect to see in a gallery

My goodness, Paul! That's a truly lovely comment! <3
Thank you, my dear!

Beautiful render. Love the camera view. The image of her on the canvas is awesome.
MollyFootman
Thank you so much, Kellie. I really had "the feelz" when I was working on this one. XD
Kidding aside, I do resonate with the situation I put my characters in.

Wow, that story in the description was unexpected. Talk about a punch in the gut. I'm worried too, Molly, and I'm literally in the opposite side of the world. This will likely affect us all, and even if it doesn't, it shouldn't be affecting ANYBODY.
In any case, beautiful render and story!
MollyFootman
Thank you for your empathetic response, Ohki! I am so glad you enjoyed the picture and you were moved. I so agree it shouldn't be this way for ANYBODY!

On the artistic side you put together a masterpiece here, great use of the characters, props and clothing (especially Afrodite's lovely new dress). On a more emotional note, I empathise with your thoughts and can't help but agree that the current events are distressing and worrisome for all of us (and obviously even more so for those directly involved). Gregor's expression is of a lost soul, his mind is elsewhere and I hate to think of all the people that are wearing that expression right now.
