Description

There has always been something of a rivalry between the students of St Tibb's High School (Mettleham's premier all-girls private school) and those from Richard Wells Academy, the local state-run school, with the latter believing that Tibb's girls are all stuck-up little princesses with an attitude who constantly look down on the students of Richard Wells as if they were peasants. Admittedly, some of the more snobby girls from St Tibb's do indeed consider anyone from Richard Wells Academy so far beneath them as to be not worth associating with, but on the other hand there are many friendships between pupils of the two schools, and even some romances that develop. Little Nadia Swinley lives close to the Richard Wells boy known as 'Teggsy' to his mates (real name: Lee Tegwald), and who has had a rather antagonistic encounter with two Tibb's girls previously (full story documented in my DeviantArt account; same username as here). His route to school takes him past Nadia's house every morning and on seeing her come out dressed in a St Tibb's uniform his first reaction is obviously to resort to name-calling. She's a Tibb's girl; fair game, right? "That's a lovely briefcase, little lady!" he calls out sarcastically as Nadia locks the door behind her and begins her journey to school. "Off to the office, are we? Got some important business deals to close and profit margins to analyze? Haha! Get a proper school bag like a normal person, you loser!" Nadia is not in the mood for any of this and she knows how to deal with nuisances of this sort. She quickly turns her head away from Teggsy, making sure it is obvious she is blatantly not looking in his direction and choosing to ignore him, and stretches out her arm to present a very British hand-gesture of defiance in response. Teggsy goes quiet for a second but then his bravado reasserts itself and he laughs in a forced manner, trying to show that Nadia's being impervious to his shouts is no big deal. Secretly, however, he is annoyed because, although he will not admit this to anyone, he thinks Nadia is really quite a cute little thing and he reckons she could turn into an absolute stunner in a few years' time, especially when combined with the tough and resilient attitude he has seen in her so far. If only she were not a Tibb's girl! Nadia, meanwhile, continues on her way to catch her bus, shaking her head and muttering as many swear words as she can summon to describe the obnoxious boy from Richard Wells Academy whom she appears to be encountering a lot more lately. Good for you, Nadia! Just ignore the jerk. Unfortunately, that may not make him go away, but at least it allows you to focus on more important matters, like the upcoming school day! Love her, "You are beneath my notice" expression!

Now that we've seen what her home situation is like, is it any wonder to see her being defiant and resilient to silly boys throwing insults her way?
