After discovering yesterday that a litter of rare baby lemurs for Lemur Sanctuary which they hoped to pick up was out on an island in the middle of a small lake, Maddie and Gemma decide that Gemma should ask her brother if he has a dinghy or boat of some kind in the back of his very crowded van. So, next morning, Gemma sits in the kitchen waiting for her brother to get up, knowing that his first... no, wait... his second place to visit on waking up is always the kitchen. "G-r-ae-ae-ae-m-e!" she whines at him as soon as he enters the room. "Are you doing anything today, sweetest and dearest brother of mine?" "Uh... okay, what do you want me to do?" Graeme Posforth-Hamilton asks, knowing which direction this is going but obviously not yet knowing the specifics. "Well... you know all that junk in the back of your van?" Gemma asks cautiously. "It's not all junk!" Graeme objects. "But what about it?" "You see... me and Maddie, we need a boat. Like, a little dinghy or canoe or something," Gemma continues being careful, not daring to assume too quickly that, firstly, her brother has such a thing and, secondly, he would be willing to let them use it. "Would you have something like that in the ju--um, the stuff in your van?" Graeme raises his eyebrows as he gets a less vague idea what his sister's request is going to be and can start narrowing down on specifics. "A boat? Are you two going out to sea or something?" "No, no! It's for Lemur Sanctuary!" Gemma says. "There's this litter of rare lemur babies and we can't get to it cos it's out in the middle of a lake so we need a boat to get across!" "Ah, okay," Graeme nods as he begins to understand. "No, I don't have a boat in my van, but I know someone I can borrow one from. When do you want it?" "Today! It's got to be today! It'll be too late otherwise!" Gemma cries. "Soon as possible!" "Okay... let me get some breakfast and then make a call or two," Graeme agrees. "Yes, yes, yes! You're a life saver, bro!" Gemma exclaims and rushes out of the kitchen to start getting ready to take another trip to the lake with an island containing the rare baby lemurs.
