Description

Over the past year or two – possibly longer – it seems to me (and a few others I’ve communicated with) that something has changed here at Renderosity. And not necessarily for the better, in my humble opinion. The warm, friendly, encouraging atmosphere of only a couple years ago is decidedly cooler, and continues to move in that direction. Many long-timers here have left us – some have passed away; others have just left the site. For some reason that I’ve not been able to put my finger on, things here just don’t seem as friendly and welcoming. To be sure, there are still several “old timers” here who interact, and are active in the community with their art, comments, and so on. Recently however, a significant part of the community just seems to be either using the site as an on-line image storage facility, or they just don’t seem to care. They will make use of Rendo’s newer “5 images per hour” upload feature (multiple times a day in a few cases), and that’s it. No narrative, no information, no interaction, nothing. Some of them don’t even have comments turned on. And of course, they never comment on anyone else’s artwork, either. I’m not trying to imply that there’s any requirement for any of the above – there isn’t. It just seems like the warm, friendly atmosphere that used to be a major part of this site sadly seems to be missing lately. And that’s a shame. What do you think? I'd love to get your thoughts on this. As always, thanks for stopping by, and for all your wonderful comments and support. And I'll be catching up on comments myself over the weekend. I love the light, shadow, and reflections in this scene. The wall and furniture look so real and the splash of neon color adds an extra layer of interest. The model is as sexy and beautiful as all of your girls. I keep looking at the computer screen thinking there should be a hint of some kind there. :)

My thoughts for what they're worth: You're right, the site feels quieter and less like a community. I wonder if it changed when we all stopped doing birthday dedications. The problem with set dedications, however, is that sometimes people get missed when our lives get busy and then feelings get hurt so I don't know if bringing that back is a viable idea or not. I wish I knew how to make this site more personal and inclusive instead of a place just for image dumping. Maybe we need to start some "running jokes" or "what's on your desk right now" type of challenges.... I don't know.

Outstanding glamorous hot bombshell, amazing environment and lighting, superb composition, brilliant awesome render.
Magnificent Masterpiece of Finest Arts. I love it!
Now may I have her phone number, please?😊💖🥰
I have no problems if you dedicate to me a composition for my birthday and it's days sooner or later, or months. To me it only matters the kind wishes, I never care if it's too early or too late, I don't have that problem and it never hurt when someone wanted to wish me happy birthday and forgot. Sooner or later, it doesn't matter, only the thought and wishes matter.
You'd better let me know how your bombshells are so adorable and so attractive. Hugs, Marius.😊💖🥰

Wonderful image! Darn she's sexy!

I have to agree about the site. It seems to me that its continuing to get more and more commercialized here... which is one reason that things have become more impersonal. I don't comment on as many images as I used to, because there are so many promotional images to wade through these days.

I liked it a lot better when the site felt like a forum for art instead of a market place.

This is a very lovely render. Awesome decor and the lighting is outstanding. She is gorgeous and her expression is adorable.

I can't speak for anyone but myself. I joined Renderosity Sept 2010, just to get some purchased and free product for Poser. I was into Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, Bryce and Poser back then. I introduced eekdog to Bryce and Poser way back then. He joined Renderosity shortly after. He has of course been posting to Renderosity for years now and kept insisting that I post some of my creations. I always felt my work is ehh! My first posting was Feb 2020. My last posting was Aug 2020. That was after my mother passed away, then shortly after my brother. Everyone in my immediate family Mother, Father and siblings are gone. My recent posting was May 2022. My job keeps me busy 45hrs a week and I run short on time. Animation has been my passion for decades and I even attempted going to school to pursue a career in that field, but life happened, and it did not work out. Unfortunately, my dreams for that have long died and I'm too old now anyway. I have recently started working with Blender and Daz Studio in addition to Poser. I will post my one of my Blender oceanside images next, hope you check it out. Actually, I have a couple of those done as well as several Daz images and Poser still waiting their turn. I will get around to posting some of them in the future.

Can't really say anything about Renderosity except I hope things will improve!

Again excellent render!

yes i know how it has changed and over about 4 years. seems this site is on a downward trend. i see far fewer posts, mostly in last year. i myself even retired have not much desire for being here allot anymore. and yes many 3-5 images a day everyday is hard to keep up with. i have cut down my working with poser nearly 60% in last 5 months. but glad i have about 50 images yet i've finished since end of last year till present. so i could not miss my 3 images per week for several months. but try and do two a week instead of 5. being a poser user getting bored with the content i'm using. don't much feel like spending money on so old of products cause no vendors are doing poser products it seems like. so that detours me from working in it. i guess like others loosing some interest in being here allot. but still use my activity feed so i won't miss any T.N.A. pages or any of your works Rod. or other friends i have here. i'll always be around and hope you are also. you will always have my support Rod. this site is so quite you can hear a pin drop on your screen. hard to say about the loss of members. COVID? or lack of interest? but what other site could they be at? take care and hope that basement project is coming along. good luck.

You've created a great scene, Rod. Nice choice of props, and I really like the way you've handled the lighting. The gal is stunning and her contemplative pose mirrors your sentiments perfectly :)

I can only speak for myself. I have been a member of Rosity for 22 years (yikes) and, of course, have seen many changes. So many of the familiar names seem to have vanished (I don't recognize so many of the names in the gallery now). Covid likely has a lot to do with the loss of individuals--I know for myself, Covid took a lot out of me, so much so that I find it difficult to get going on a 3D scene, or even make my daily visit to view and comment in the gallery. I also suspect that the grinding, weighty world and national events have adversely affected people--not much joy going around.

As for the changes Rosity has made: Certainly over time, the site has become increasingly commercialized. That's to be expected--they want to make money. But what I really dislike is the way they have recently changed the gallery. An image is up for a couple of days and then relegated to some other area, very likely never to be viewed again. The previous incarnation of the gallery afforded folks the ability browse several days' submissions which, for those not visiting the gallery every day, was, at least for me, more gratifying. This change also has, IMHO, contributed to the loss of connectivity between/among members.

Hope your new plumbing project is completed or near completion :)

This is wonderful work. I really like the lights and shadows.

I think you're right about Rendo. I've noticed it happening, but I don't for sure what's causing it. Part of it, though, has to be that far too many gallery pictures are just product promos. I really hope it turns around.

I like the posing and expression in that image, she really looks as if she's thinking about something.

I agree that Renderosity feels less like a community than it used to. We all want them to make a profit, otherwise the site will vanish, which would be terrible. It is difficult to find a balance between the commercial side of the site, which we all want to be here, and the community side, which feels more important to those who have been here a while. I wish the management of the site well in that constant struggle.

As do I. It has to be quite a challenge trying to keep a balance between the two. I'm on a couple of the 'other' well known sites, and an image I post here that gets 20 - 30 comments here will get maybe 2 or 3 at those others.

I've been temporarily delayed by a faulty SSD I purchased several weeks back, and the time taken to dump the essential data, yet again. I've exchanged it for a much better model which hopefully won't give the same trouble.

There are many many other places for posting artworks, the quality of the products sold here manage to keep me coming around. The economy on the other hand is putting a damper on that ability. At any rate I manage to view galleries hereand many other places. The variety of so many sites may play a large part in dampening peoples ability to really slow down and participate as so many did in the beginning.

I still lurk amongst the galleries, but really do not comment as often myself, not to mention many nowadays do not understand the depth of true art critics.IIs just not taught with top notch quality in today's world.

Awesome art work as always Rod!

I am in complete agreement with everything you have said my friend. Its unfortunate that so many talented artists have left and closed their accounts...possibly never to return again. Its this talent drain that is becoming more apparent as the days go by. :-)

Thanks so much to all who have responded to this, both publicly and privately. There are many things at play, and many different ways of looking at this. Lots to think about and consider. With all I said above, Renderosity is still the best art site out there, IMHO. More later... 😉

Wow! Great render. She must be in home office because she's wearing almost nothing. Must be to cope with the hot weather. And where do you always meet those wonderful ladies? ;-)

I have been a member here at Renderosity for 15 years now and I must confess I am a quiet one. Only in the last one or two years I placed some comments. I have seen some changes here as well, but this is the only gallery where I (can) read comments and write some. So I hope this will stay alive for a long time. I pity that you are missing the former spirit on this site, but I personally think that the overall spirit and enthusiasm just faded over time for may different reasons. Everything must be commercial these days and I think this is one of the main reasons.

This beautifully presented image shows off your real skill as a really talented artist Rod. I have not noticed any members leaving mainly because of the messing around with ebots...At least I assumed it was just ebots and people left in disgust. Sadly, people have died. I have lost two very good friends this year. I would be seriously upset if you or a few other of my friends left the site.

She looks great, Rod! I like how you turned her out! Such a sophisticated and capable character! Many fine kudos from me to you on this wonderful work.

As for the feeling of comraderie fading into the night, I can relate to it as well. Like you have said above, there is not nearly the involvement and support that used to be here. I feel uneasy to say this, but I'm just afraid it is a sign of the times. The future holds so many uncertainties and so many people are losing their homes and jobs and lives in some cases. It can get it bit frightening at times. But I've already mumbled along too much in this posting. Hope you have a great week ahead and can get your own trials sorted and and brought to a happy conclusion for you and your family! Always rooting for you, Rod!

This is a very beautiful graphic! I hope you had a nice and safe Sunday and I wish you a good start into the new week! 🖐😀

PS. As for Renderosity, it's all slowly going down the drain, nothing is like it used to be, because here everyone is next to himself and is also happy when he can beat others in the pan. The dear envy kills them all, it's really no more fun here and these 1-2-word-comments I find them just to puke!!!

What Radar says is true but then those should also post nothing more and leave the others hanging in the air! What is worse, to lose his house, his job, etc., that can be replaced, but if we in Europe because of this shit Ukraine war possibly the nuclear reactor will be blown up or a nuclear bomb will fly around our ears, then we will have no time left to whine!!!!

You spoke from my heart 100%,I feel the same,Rend doesn't change for the better, even if I compare the number of comments, likes and favorites, there is a big difference from before. I've been here at Rendo for 22 years now and I can certainly make my own judgements.

Rendero has become a market hall and no longer a place where artists can exchange ideas among themselves, I've wanted to throw in the towel several times (and being publicly accused of being a thief here hurts like hell), but I won't do them the favour and stay here until I drop dead!!!!!😉

First of all, I think your image captures the mood of your test well. This is a moment for inflection. I have always loved the flexibility of your style, incorporating all generations of figures.

There has definitely been a shift in the nature of the site, which we have all felt differently. I felt a resounding smack in the face when they took down an image I thought was a symbol of innocence because all they could see was smut. I suppose I can see their point on some levels, but it made me feel that I might belong. Everyone that I follow is what made me decide to stay, but the weight of the real world feels like an anchor on joy, love, and humor, the things that fuel my art. I hope that we can keep a little warmth on the site even as it continues to change.

Thank you very much, my friend! Great folks and artists like you are what keep me going..

A lot of it also, I think is that society has changed quite a bit in the last few years. And on top of that, these last 3 - 4 years have been a mess, to put it politely. First we get hit with COVID, then the 3-ring political circus here in the USA. And of course, the endless wars in the background of everything else. It's nuts.

I'm just thankful we have our art and friendships here to take a break from all the insanity.

Yeah, you're right it's cooler here, like in a cooler, you know. For me, not enough hours in a 24 hours day. Some time without inspiration and when i thought i had a good idea it didn't pan out. so many unfinished scenes in my pc. Just yesterday got something done, but need too make it in different versions so that i don't crash in those godd#md tos's. I'm sorry that i don't comment often or that i'm one of those one or two words commenters but then again Clint Eastwood said that less is more... And also i don't use translation software.
