Description

And again I have to say goodbye to one of my dear cats. We had to let Bagheera go over the rainbow bridge (hopefully it really exists) today at the age of 20 years 3 months and 3 days. He was an outstanding cat with beautiful velvety jet black fur and gorgeous yellow eyes. Just like his exterior, his character was characterized by beauty and good-naturedness. There was almost nothing that could upset him and he was always well-disposed towards all our other cats, indeed he was like a brother or father to many of them. For Sina, whom I lost last September, he was a friend and partner. She always wanted to be with him and always sought his closeness. Although he was always relatively low in rank, when any of our cats were stressed, he could be a calming influence and new and young cats were in good paws with him. When Sina was born, he took her and her sister under his wing like a great scout leader and explored the neighborhood gardens with them, always making sure that everything was safe and secure. He was very cuddly and loved to lay on laps and be cuddled. 6 years ago he suddenly disappeared and we thought we would never see him again. Fortunately after 10 days he was found in a vacant apartment where there was no water and no food. Somehow he was locked in there and could not get out. During this time he probably got his kidney damage. But since he was an extremely grateful pill swallower, we were able to keep him stable all the time with medication. Now he was old, very old. In the last two days he was extremely cowering and looking into a corner, which was a clear sign that he was preparing to die. He did not like to go on anymore and today we had to release him with a very, very heavy heart. We are very sad that our faithful and loving Bagheera is now no longer with us. It is a big part of our life in which he had accompanied us faithfully and we feel a big, big hole that hurts and can not be stuffed. We hope very much that one day we will be able to see him again together with all the other cats and take him in our arms. Rest in peace my little big one.... :'(

So very sorry for the loss of your furry family member, my friend. It's just like losing any other member of the family. It takes time to heal either way - and it leaves as you said, an empty place.

He's in a better place, and not suffering now, so take comfort in that. He's a beauty indeed, and he'll be waiting at that rainbow bridge.

They leave such huge holes behind when they go. I tell myself every time "I can't do this anymore" and then another needy one finds me... I am sorry for your loss!

Those are lovely memories - hold on to them! It is never easy to lose a cat - but there are times we have to let them go.

Sorry for your loss. They're only small but leave such a big hole in our lives when they go.
I still miss my four fur babies so I can imagine how you are feeling. Once again, condolences.

Sorry to read about your loss. I hope your other cats are well. I have 5 inside & about 10 ferals outside & it hurts to lose any of them even the ferals, that I only have one that I can pet, I call him Sweetie Pie.
