ooh, the coloring on the skirts reminds me of Degas's pastel paintings of ballerinas...and that great pinkish red...And I like that the studio is in shadow but leads to a big opening to the countryside. I used to pass a ballet studio for months, when I was young (studying piano in the same building as ballet studios): When I saw what those young kids were asked to do, I shuddered! It's so hard and painful---but they adored it, and dreamt of being a star one day. A very interior but beautifully lit scene, and familiar to anyone who's had the privilege of seeing these sessions in person...
