Description

Alteration VI
Before understanding, the young woman had found herself on the balcony, at the top of this strange building in levitation. Likewise, her usual clothes had been changed to some sort of ranger outfit. Incredulous, she stared at the depth that now separated her from the base of her drawing board. Adding to the darkness, a strange sheet of mist had settled; she could barely make out the anchor that held the house. Staring at the abyss into which the power of her creativity had drawn her, it seemed to her that lights were flickering below; she would have to come down to explore.

This has assumed a Fairy Tale sort of imagery; her imagination has her in a whole new world that is different from her mundane "real world". Her garb as a ranger suggests she should explore and she seems ready to do so. The mysterious house seems more a gateway than a destination. This turn of events surprised and pleased me. Thank you for sharing!

The world of fairy tales is both a facility for narration mixing fantasy and psychic (cf. Bruno Bettelheim), and a tribute to daydreams and childhood readings. She is a ranger, because creativity is embodied in action, while what it moves is mainly inside us. As for the turn of the story, I love the twists and reversals of points of view; I believe that life is made up of contradictions, and that one of the roles of art is to show them.
