Description
I'm working on a short horror comic book story and this is the first character design sheet. I don't always make these for my projects (although I should, especially documenting the morphs and dial settings for the character), but since I'm adapting a short story from a writer I know, I thought this step would be helpful in defining the characters before I start the actual comic. As you can see, I'm still playing around with the hair color – I'm not sure how light or dark it will be. I'll need to test it with the dark backgrounds called for in the script before I will make that decision. After this, I have three more character designs to whip up.
As you can see in the notes, the main figure is Victoria 4. I've documented the various dial and prop settings on the sheet (I didn't share these with the writer, as this would only confuse him because he doesn't know anything about Poser or 3D art). My standard workflow is in play: I create 2-to-3 renders in Poser 13 and transfer them to Clip Studio Paint for compositing, setting the tones and clean-up.
I HOPE THE IMAGE DISPLAYS WELL IN THIS GALLERY. I am keeping the tones from the comic, as they will be printed (screens will print with 85 lpi). These tend to look weird online, but I'm going to post it and hope for the best.
If you have trouble looking at it, try adjusting the image's size to either 100%, 50%, or 25%. Those settings will minimize the distortion in the screen tint patterns.

@Uncollared: Thanks, bud! It's been ages since I've cruised your gallery to see what you've been up to. Can't wait to pop my peepers on your latest and greatest!

@mich40ish; Thank you very much. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Nice ! I would have thought this was sketch and not something that originated with V4! Well done!
mmitchell_houston
@MeInOhio: Thanks, that means a lot, especially coming from such a talented artist as yourself!
EVargas
Pretty cool! Me too I also thought at first that it was a drawing/sketch!
mmitchell_houston
@EVargas: Thanks! I'm very thrilled to hear that this passes off as a hand-drawn illustration. And I'm going to cruise your store to see if there are any items that might make it into a future illustration. Fire, clouds and smoke are always useful tools!

I'm really impressed you really blurred the line between 3D rendering and a traditional drawing. The character design looks great! I tend to do character sheets since I deal with a lot of characters. Never thought about including the dial settings. Just seeing this gets me intrigued about the actual comic.

Thanks! I'm gratified to hear that this looks hand-drawn. I'm always worried that my fellow members of the Poser community will scoff at my work and instantly recognize Victoria 4 when I use her. Despite some of the neat options in La Femme, V4 is still my go-to-gal because there are so many poses, expressions and clothing options available for her.
This is really only the second time I've included the dial settings (I need to go back and add the props/clothing selections). I'm hoping it will help me keep better track of what I'm doing. The comic itself is a 6-8 page short horror story in the style of the old Warren Magazines (Eerie, Creepy, Vampirella). I will definitely be posting more character sheets and some WIP images / pages. Until I know more about the potential places it will be published (in the short term it's scheduled for two small-run fanzines; together they probably a combined run of less than 75 readers), I won't be posting the whole comic here. After it runs in the zines, I'll shop it around to a few other zine publishers I know and then, if they pass, I'll post it here.
If the moderators don't mind, when it's finished I'll post a link to where people can read the story.
Thanks again!

@APlusDesign: Thanks! Now, on to the next one, followed by the sets for the comic.

Glamorous character, superb design, wonderful concept and very stylish. Hard to tell if it's hand made drawing but for sure a great eye-catcher. Exquisite Artwork. I love it!
mmitchell_houston
@mifdesign: Thank you SO MUCH. And I like the word "glamorous." I wouldn't have thought that, but now that you've said I definitely see it.
