Description
This started out as XP-54, a plane that never made it to production for various reasons. It also never made it as a model by me for various reasons, mostly do to lack of experience but also lack of sufficient reference material. So here's the story, this is a priviately owned ex XP-54 bought from Army Surplus restored with a slightly enlarged cockpit and a custom paint job. The plane is called "Copperhead" and has a snake logo on each side of the nose. Well, there is the story hopefully it makes up for the short comings in this model. Hope you enjoy it anyway, and thank you for viewing.

Looks quite a bit..make that extremely nose heavy. Maybe some canards....?

Actually that looks very accurate, strange plane indeed. Here's a site you may want to take a look at. There are a few different views of this bird there that may be useful. http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/research/p54.htm

Regardless of accuracy, the whole thing looks good! Excellent paint job!

A very refined design from the late recip era. The hard things to get I think are the smallness of the rudders and fins. It's layout is guided as much by artistry as by theory and testing. Once again has all the interesting features of something that "Should have worked." Nice exploration of the truth in this one.
