Description
The lunar terrain, sky, and Earth are all a Bryce 5 creation. The astronauts are "real" 3D models. That is, they are "action figures" (NOT DOLLS!) made by Dragon Models. This one is "Buzz Aldrin", an action figure (NOT DOLL!) which stands 12" high. You can see that it is very detailed. I photographed him in two different poses and then composited the results into the Bryce rendering using Paint Shop Pro. Additionally, the astronaut shadows were created in PSP using warped layers. Plus, some surface disturbance was added around the feet. You might want to look at my Terragen version of this scene (The Salute). This Bryce version of course took FAR longer to create.

Beautiful work, excellent composition.

Hi, maybe you could add some dust on their feet. Bryce has volumetric objects, but it will be longer to render.

Very good job. This is very realistic appearing. I also like the effort you put in explaining how you did it. The terrains are supurb. Wonderful render.

Great image, and original way of combining "real world posing" with 3D rendering. Good job on getting the light/shadows on the figures to match that of the overall scene.
