BIO
Because we value our privacy at home, I'm not going to say too much here about my personal life. Those that know me, already know probably too much about me. :) I am a programmer by trade and work for a company in Washington DC (even though I live in Florida). I've been programming almost as long (if not longer) than I've been doing art.
In 1988 or so, I started drawing on the C-64 which only had 64 colors (of which only 4 could be used in a certain place). There was a program called Koala Paint that I used to draw simple images with. I dreamed then of getting a 24 bit board I saw in the magazines, even though it was $2400 and I didn't even know what computer they were for. Then I got the Amiga and DCTV. Millions of colors! Yeah! Though it had troubles, it was still awesome to work with and I have found few paint programs that work as well as that one did, though Painter is pretty close. Then I finally got the elusive 24 bit computer (the IBM compatible) and I was on my way, though I still miss the old days of Deluxe Paint and DCTV.
I work in 2D and 3D with an emphasis on 2D. My work includes celebrity portraits, down home scenes, and fantasy. I also lean more toward family art so that I can show the kids, not because I have anything against the more adult works. My mediums include Poser, Bryce/Vue, Painter and Photoshop with a touch of LW (still learning on that one).
Thanks so much for viewing this page and I hope you will enjoy my work. On behalf of the whole family, have a great day...

I'm glad this one finally saw the light of day. Excellent job, Kaze. Rhona was always my favorite Lara as well.

I like the way you've made her realistic. very peculiar look she's got in her eyes, I am in love with this picture. I see lot of humour, and still lot of energy. No matter if there's lots of pink ;) Great work :)

Excellent work Shadow. I'm so glad you did not model her after Angelina Jolie. Rhona is the genisia of the character. Excellent work on her hair. I love the braid work and that somewhat sardonic look in her eyes. Nice subtle shading...wonderful skin texture and color. I love the feel of the portrait you have given us by the stage-like background curtains, (yes, I know they are by DAZ, but I'm sure you did some work with them)very old-style. And, I love those pink sunglasses...very rebellious, I would suspect...making sure her personality shines through. Just fantastic work Shadow! I really love it! Once again, you have raised the bar in artistic composition!

Another gorgeous painting Shadow :)

Love your painting works, Shad. I like the highlights and the skin tones here. I guess she does view the world through rose tinted lenses. :o)

Wow, nice stereoscopic image ShadowWind. Character, frame, curtains and outside have individual depth. The girl has nice facial expression with nice pink grasses, eyes and beautiful hair. Total color balance is also great. Conclusion: This is another success in your fantastic gallery. I like to look your next image.

very very good! great technique!

Very nice tones from lightning on dress and skin! I think the reflection on the glasses must not be rounded personally... I love the more blurry background too!

Shadow my friend - this is absolutely beautifully executed. Your ability to paint by hand in PhotoShop becomes more finely tuned and expert with every new addition to your growing gallery of excellent art. I'm not familiar with many of the people you elect to portray in these exquisite portraits you paint, and in the case of this 'Rhona Mitra' - unfortunately - again, I've never heard of her much less seen a picture of her. Even so, knowing the quality of your work, I'm assured this render reflects her most excellently. I have seen Angelina Jolie in the film version of Lara Croft, (amazing huh) but I honestly thought she was miscast, and looked nothing like the game rendition - even figure wise! In my personal opinion my friend, I think the 'rounded look' of her rose colored glasses is perfect, and having them slightly off-set on her nose to reveal a hint of the expressive eyes is the Coup d'Grace. The heavier right-hand shadow adds such depth to the portrait,. Simply a wonderful image Shadow - out of 1 to 10 - a definite 100.

Wow oh wow! Dang I hate being late to the comments. All the good stuff's already been said! My comment: Read all above comments, multiply by infinity, you have my opinion. This is fantastic Shad! I really love your handpainted works. I also hate you for being so talented. Ok, not really, but sheesh, quit hogging all the talent will ya! Egads but I LOVE her expression! So Laura Croft! Sigh, I think I'll just sit here and stare for a while, then go to bed and dream of stealing some of your talent. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
lemonjim
fantastic, shad' - the slight "smirk" is so delicately done, and a full 180 degrees from all the other lara pics, yet still with the unmistakable personality. quite an achievement!
