Description

And they're coming... :) ____ Lots of fun in making this. It's my first real try at modelling seriously in Bryce. All Bryce5, no meshes imported. I used mostly booleans, but also metaballs for the rear body, the buccal thingie and the underbody. Great inspiration for this one came from Rochr's Mosquito and from alvinylaya's Mecha I. Click on the links if you want to see way better tries than mine :) Some tech details: rendered at 1024x768 with Premium FX at 64rpp (soft shadows set at 65% and DOF aimed at the main critter set at 0,07). There are five grey radials scattered about, also with soft shadows enabled. Rendertime about 12 hours. Minimal postwork for a bit of light enhancement (plus, of course, contour&sig). All materials are Bryce metal presets with different bumpmaps applied. Thanx for stopping by, and as usual feel free to comment and/or criticize. Have a nice day, --- Stefano

Lol i like this... it reminds me of that kiddie song "the ants go marching" Really incredible tho how ya did this... I dunno how u managed to mold a perfect ant with antennae and everything, outta various odd pieces and shapes. Just fabulous.

It was a little disconcerting to open this one! I am not an insect fancier and this looked so real it startled me! Marvelous work. How do you get the metaballs to be so smooth and nice?

- Carlo

My Goodness DC, you out did yourself with this one. Your modeling is really Excellent on these creatures. Somehow I can just hear you talking to these ants as you went about creating them, heheh. :) Excellent textures, reflection, and use of Bryce!!

Hi Stefano! At the first: I like Your black and white images in combination with a little bit colour, how also in: Somewhat Fetish II - Waiting for K. The knifes of Your ants are looks like very sharp..! Selfcreated 3d-models_Wow! Very good! The reflecting undergroundtexture also! To learn to creat 3d_models, is one of my next intentions. (Time...and learning, learning, learning...) Your pic: exzellent!
