BIO
Because we value our privacy at home, I'm not going to say too much here about my personal life. Those that know me, already know probably too much about me. :) I am a programmer by trade and work for a company in Washington DC (even though I live in Florida). I've been programming almost as long (if not longer) than I've been doing art.
In 1988 or so, I started drawing on the C-64 which only had 64 colors (of which only 4 could be used in a certain place). There was a program called Koala Paint that I used to draw simple images with. I dreamed then of getting a 24 bit board I saw in the magazines, even though it was $2400 and I didn't even know what computer they were for. Then I got the Amiga and DCTV. Millions of colors! Yeah! Though it had troubles, it was still awesome to work with and I have found few paint programs that work as well as that one did, though Painter is pretty close. Then I finally got the elusive 24 bit computer (the IBM compatible) and I was on my way, though I still miss the old days of Deluxe Paint and DCTV.
I work in 2D and 3D with an emphasis on 2D. My work includes celebrity portraits, down home scenes, and fantasy. I also lean more toward family art so that I can show the kids, not because I have anything against the more adult works. My mediums include Poser, Bryce/Vue, Painter and Photoshop with a touch of LW (still learning on that one).
Thanks so much for viewing this page and I hope you will enjoy my work. On behalf of the whole family, have a great day...

You've really captured this one very well. :o) Keep at it! As artists, I suppose that we'll never be completely happy with our own works, but I suspect the pleasure derived is in creating something that can be shared.
Thanks for sharing this portrait of Ms. Dushku, ShadowWind.

Well, well. Glad to see you reposted this one. Your painting skills never cease to amaze me. I really don't know what I would do if the ole Shadowwind didn't post. This world needs all the bright spots it can get. You art is definately one of the brightest of those rarities! Never give up on your art Shad. No matter what anyone says. Your talent is true!

I think I am much closer to her than most members of Renderosity. Only because of the fact that I am EXACTLY, repeat EXACTLY 3 years older than her. Same birthday only I'm 3 years older.

Excellent! So glad to see that you are back on the horse again:D I can only imagine the time it takes to do a portrait like this... keep em coming!

You mean some chickenshit IM'ed you to badmouth your pic? that's low. At least have the balls to do it on here so we can all see what an asshole you are. Anyway, Kaze... I'm still impressed as hell that you do these things from scratch. But try not to get disheartened from bad comments. We all get them. All it is, is an opinion and the comment is meant to shape your work into something more palatable to them. Don't worry about it. The most important opinion, the ONLY opinion you need worry about is your own. You know what you can do, and you know if you've done the best job you can. If that's what you've done, and are happy with it, that's all you need concern yourself with.

Superb work the extra fine details is confusing them!! And few could carry this off my friend... You never fell off yer horse lol just lost a stirrup for a while.

Yeah, this looks better! Worth the reworking on it! Much bette hair! Better lightning on it too! Perhaps you could make the background a bit softer too at least at some places to keep in style with the portrait, because it looks very sharp and it's further away.

Wow... really really well done!!

Your portraits from scratch my friend - (even what some consider inadequate) - are far better than 90% of the software produced images that get posted and praised to death - as if they were all hand done. I saw the original version of this render when you first posted, and I read with a bit of consternation, a couple of comments originating from sources that couldn't begin to draw and paint so much as three strands of realistic looking hair - let alone produce such a natural looking portrait and a full head of hair. Every image you create my friend only gets better and better in detail and as portraiture - ALWAYS recognizable as the individual you painted. Bravo, and as 'Kageboshi' reiterated so beautifully, "The most important opinion, the ONLY opinion you need worry about is your own."

This as all of your work stands among the top. Creating from scratch and painting these type of portraits are an incredible task. Your work is always such a wonderful sight. It is very hard to paint an incredible image such as this. This is such a fresh look at portraiture by a true portraiture artist that paints. You have my vote, it should be in a category of its own.

Some really good work . Your pictures, drawn by hand are excellent. Your talents continue. Thanks.

Well...Shadow...I have no idea what the comments were, so. I'll stick to this image. As you know, Buffy is one of my favorite shows and you have done an extraordinary job with Faith. The portrait is flawless as far as I can tell. That cock of her head is so "her"...she has the same look in the movie she is in called "Bring It On". I think your facial and skin coloring is amazing...texture is smooth and wonderful work on the dimples and around her eyes. And your work with her hair is the best I've seen you do...of course, I could never even approach what you can do on a digital tablet from skratch...sometimes I think people don't really know how difficult it is to achieve this kind of realism in the digital world. I know I've tried and I am not a quitter, but this is something that continues to allude me. Your work on lighting is above reproach! I'm glad you took what you could from the previous comments to improve this beautiful image of Faith...in the end, that's what we all try to do. Excellent work my friend!
