Description

*Life is like playing a violin in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.* Butler ----------------------- 2 Layers: Background purely Painted in Photoshop, Main figure worked out from this starting sketch I made. 1 hour of total work, excluded the time for makin the sketch. ------------------------ Thanx to bevchiron and gres2000 for their inputs on this one.. Actually, I still not convinced at all of the negative space here, but I liked the final effect of watercolours I reached (inspired by lumo and syndroid's awesome works) so, as Cam said all trials will nevertheless be part of the theme, I let the title "June Theme". I hope that with the incomin "Bride of Night" the Negative Space will result better than here, but I hope you enjoy nevertheless. I actually painted a Sunset more than a day.. because the thoughtful expression of the bride looked like something melancholic.. like an ending exactly.. "of herself". Have all a great weekend. I have new furnitures to check in a new shared house ;)

the watercolor sketch has a nice flow to it- a quiet reflection against the bright colors of the sunset- another dawn of her life just beginning- thoughtful & sunny piece! :]

It has become a very warm image, due to the colors you've used. I like the bottom part the best, since it looks like part beach sand as well as water color. The dress and hair look pretty impressionistic, whereas the looks very much drawn. There's a lot of styles in this one image ;)

Being a natural fan of torn edges and other such symptoms of artistic "perfect imperfection", I do like this. Your colours too... yes I like them... just right :-)
What draws my eye more than anything else however is the bluish central strip... I see three obscured figures, as if the leaders in an approaching crowd. A multifaceted image dear... well done :-)

something melancholic.. like an ending exactly.. "of herself". Perfect mood, face, hair, colors... all! Luv your work!

the blue part is courtesy of Bev's suggestions especially :) I also like the below part.. it took me ages to sand it properly ;) Glad you're liking the Bride.. I feel like it could have been way better.. but it's a stage that I had to take :) Huges everyone :)

Nice choice of colours, the blue stripe in the middle seems water, as if there is a rising tide of something hotter... difficult to explaing... something like a sentiment incoming... as if there can be a change in her attitude, maybe from sadness to anger...

I think she's looking for her "Morning Man" to take the measure of the day as he delivers the milk butter and eggs to her porch. Whether his wagon is horsedrawn or he rides in a jump out van she knows his appearance leaves the whole of the day yet to be done. Maybe he has the paper with the latest news!!

Negative space is so hard because two separate images are visible at once. I tried but couldn't do it. You have almost done it well here where a bench doubles as a sun setting sea? This one is truly a challenge. I do like your blue lady. Great paint job in photoshop too.

I diagnose a state of melancholy. Symptoms: an inhibitory fatigue, nervous system can not respond properly to stimulation, slow reflexes, a dreamy or meditative sadness. Curative treatment: crazy love, at least three times per day.

I see figures in the blue too, like fighting parts of herself. And she looks tired and sad. But all this in the most warm colors and tones. This is a beautyful puzzle to my mind.

Well I am going to be the first one to say - I think something is wrong ! :) The proportion of the face is wrong. The forehead is too long in my opinion :) Well, Mel, you said give me constructive comments - so I hope I did . I know you will take this as advice ( as I intend it ) and not as something to detract from the beauty of this image - because it is lovely !
