Description
This is the shuttle for "Endeavour." Unlike the typical "Star Trek" shuttle, this one is outfitted to operate as a land vehicle, as well. My thinking is that a century before the original "Star Trek," they might not have limitless supplies of portable energy, so rather than flying everywhere once they set down on a planet, they can drive to those places that are within a reasonable distance. The glowing blue ring on the roof is the generator for the artificial gravity. I have yet to design and model the shuttle's space engines, and the interior is, at this point, only seats and a dashboard.
Sydney is a sub-project of my "Endeavour" model; together, they make up the sum total of my Lightwave

You've got a really good background for design. I really appreciate all the thought that you put into the conceptualization and creation of this vehicle. A few more polygons here and there might help make this feel even more real. Keep on posting!

In a way, this is a much better concept than the Argo from Star Trek: Nemesis.

Thanks for the suggestion, Moebius87. This was my first attempt at using a Bezier curve to create the silhouette of the shuttle; I based it upon a quick interpretation of a minivan, thinking that since minivans are both ubiquitous and a very efficient method of packaging people, it would be a realistic leap to think that in the future they might form the evolutionary basis of something like a shuttle. I didn't plan for it to be this big, however; it's like a Hummer mated with an RV :). The side panels are still a bit too flat, I agree; I modeled them as separate layers, so they can be swapped out, and when I learn how to loft surfaces, I might make them more complex, in keeping with the silhoutte. potrimpo, thanks. I thought the Argo was simply there to add a car chase to the movie, and wasn't based on any kind of rational design. Sydney (which is named in honor of Syd Mead, one of my industrial design inspirations) does the job that Argo took two vehicles to accomplish, and I think it's a much more logical solution. YMMV, of course :D

Excellent work!

A very well thought out vehicle. I agree - it often annoys me in Star Trek how they never seem to give consideration to resources.
