Description
Ronald Wilson Reagan was born in Tampico, Ill., on Feb. 6, 1911. His father's parents, who were Roman Catholic, were born in Ireland. His mother, a Protestant, was of Scottish-English ancestry. When he was nine, his family moved to Dixon, Ill. After graduating from Eureka College, near his home, Reagan began working as a sports announcer for WOC, a radio station in Davenport, Iowa, and later for WHO in Des Moines, with which WOC merged. During a trip Reagan took to California in 1937 to cover baseball spring training, an agent from Warner Brothers studios signed him for his film debut as a radio announcer in Love Is on the Air. That role was the beginning of a film career that included more than 50 movies, the best known of which were Knute Rockne--All American and King's Row. He made his last film in 1964.
It's hard to believe there was a time before his presidency, but there was...a very successful film career. This sketch celebrates that time in his life. I hope you like it!
The sketch referenced from stock photos and a PSP Tube from JCW Designs Collections was done with 5H and HB pencils on Stonehendge paper. The frame from PSP has been re-worked by me as was the matting. The eyes and horse are PSP Tubes. The sketch was referenced from stock photos and froma a PSP Tube collection from JCW Designs.
Thanks for stopping by...Cheryl

I never prospered under Ronald Reagan. I think it must have been that my father had been a radio amateur. There was this guild or union friction always. Even the UART(adapter) from the PONG game to hook it to the TV was accused of being an illegal pirate TV station in 1979!! In spite of the fact it was an "open" switch the hostility built and built. I'm very uncomfortable with this image even now.

Reagan made a bad moviestar and a worse president. But you made a great sketch!!

i disagree with skoeter, a lot of his films where entertaining and in retrospect he was a fine president that got our country out of some sticky situation (he put us in a few, but what president dpesn't?) anyways, this is another great piece and truly captures the essense of the man :)

Wonderful work as usual Cheryl.. Cant say he did much for me as an actor.. But his relationship with our Country did much to cement the bonds that exist between our nations..
