Description

*Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate.* J. R. R. Tolkien ----------------- Pencil 2B and 4B, no postwork. ----------------- This is the portrait of dear Philipp, PSNaddw here, an artist of extremely refined visual language, that I wish every single one here would know more (his thumbnails, although fascinating, aren't really indicative of his awesome and multiple talent), and a guy whom I've learnt to admire and feel a deep affection for, through an intensive and always pleasant exchange of mails. For more than one year by now I loved to talk with him so, always impressed by his sensitivity and smartness, so when I asked himn to allow me to portray him as gift, I had no idea of the way he was looking like. I can just tell I wrote him back this, as he sent me his picture "You never told me you were among the most handsome men ever????" and he really is. The fact he never even hinted at it is just a further sign of his grace inside, and lack of vanity, that I totally approve. I have to say he's way more beautiful that I portraited here... but what I would really like you all to reckon, is the awesome person and artist this charming face hides behind. Enjoy my dear... Germany is indeed a place full of talent :) I had a GORGEOUS time in Rome and soon I'll show you pics of this (also and especially in the Photography Forum): I ask you some patience cos it will take me quite a time to cope with all your posts I have missed these days... but you know I never let things undone. Thank you all for having appreciated my efforts these days :) and... well.. everyone come here in Italy!!!!!! Hugs :)

That's one hell of a face, to rival Luc almost, heheh... I think you've done him justice dear, even though I haven't seen his photo. It captures an essence :-)

Wonderful pencil craft - line and modelling are both excellent and combine to make a portrait to be proud of and cherish.

A very nice portrait of a sensitive man (not that I now him but he looks sensitive on the image). I like the way that his portrait suits what you have written about him so well and that the eyes looks so expressive.

Geez, you have topped yourself here. I have never seen a pictue of the guy but I can picture the original photo vividly. Since I have been following your drawings, it seems that you are still riding the learning curve to sheer excellence.

These portraits of the "cathedral builders" are really special. Each one challenges me to visualize his surviving expression in 500 years. The heaviness of the stone and the hardness to the chisel can be seen mixed with the quirk of genius of the carver. Here I can finally imagine the open sky in front of the rock stage and how this man captures your interest in the midst of an almost deafening sound.
