Description

::: Part 13 of a series of Warbird Photos ::: Taken at the monthly event at the Planes of Fame Museum on Chino Airport, California. This month, it was on "Air War over Korea" (8/2/03) Aircraft is an North American F-86F Sabre. This aircraft was one of the primary fighters for American during the Korean War. The start of the jet age, this fighter incorperates the swept wing design that was very popular at the time. This shot was during the start up of the engines (LOUD!). There is no digital alteration here, that's really the heat exhast from the engines just warming up! An F-16 Viper's engine can vaporize a hotdog in less than a nanosecond, so that should give you an idea of how hot that exhast is. The F-86 is sitting about 10 feet from me during this part, so I go quite an earful of the noisy (but awesome sounding) engine. Camera is a digital Minolta Dimage 7hi (5 MP). This image has been shrunk down to 33% of the original full size. Manual Focus, custom White Balance.

Awesome...you're lucky to get so close with the engine on. Excellent composition.

Your shot froze the rippling effect of the exhaust perfectly giving and awesome texture to the out of focus background. Nicely done.
