Description

A sign of the times. This creek had been diverted into a culvert, and just dumped onto the beach. Every winter, the storms would plug it with driftwood, and fill in the creek bed. Now, it runs under the highway in a large double culvert. There is a deep holding pool dug out, and a rock breakwater to protect it from the annual southeast gales. Last year, the elememtry school kida raised a pen of pink salmon in the boat harbour, and released them to the ocean. When they returned to spawn, 300 chose this creek as their new natal stream, re-establishing a run that had been wiped out years ago. Thanks for looking, comments welcome.
