Description

"For many in the city of Northsea, the sight of the Storm Legion knights winding their way out past the old city wall was the first indication that all was not right in the realm. For many in the Legion, the time spent travelling out through the city gave them time to reflect on who and what they would soon be defending.... for Zrie's army was closing." This is the 6th image in a series of 5 and chronologically follows after "Lookouts". Pretty much all of it is modelled by me (except for the poser people and horses inside the armour). Been a while coming.... apologies for its delay. Many thanks to various people in the rosity chat and in the bryce forum for useful suggestions. Anyway, please let me know what you think and thanks for taking the time to view/vote/comment whatever and for all your support. love the castlewalls texture, and the armour looks awesome mate, could use a close up on the bumpwork on the horse armour,I know theres alot of work in there,(maybe a new year render, lol)this pic looks like there's alot more that we cant see, like more horses, like the angle doesnt emphasise or give any scale too the column or convoy, and scale is something you always do so well.... (well with all those brilliant comments above, someones gotta keep you on your toes, lol)Thanks for posting mate, and cheers also for all the wips you shared.

To respond to a couple of comments..... I tried a few POVs when setting the scene up to try and see more of the column. Going to the side lost the effect of the road going between buildings and raising the camera position to say a second floor window height made the pic go very grey with all the stonework and really changed the focus of the pic. As for the shadows - I went for a walk about the building block where I work and had a good subjective look at the sorts of shadows that were around the outside of the concrete/brick/stone buildings in strong daylight - they were fairly light (unlike what I saw in the late afternoon sort of sun where the shadows seem darker), probably from all the diffuse scattering of the stronger light from the nearby buildings, so thats what I tried to emulate here. There will be more coming... this series of (originally) 5 isn't done quite yet.

apart from wat i've already told you, this render is excellent!! great modelling and texture. too bad you can't see the whole column but i think that POV works well in showing the focus of the image.

**If I die, will my skeleton be drafted into Zrie's army?

Again, the smaller details catch my eye and complete the pic. I really like the look of the villager to the left, and the "Serpent Tongue" placard on the shop. Another great pic.**

Well, I didn't see this amazing work coming along, so you can imagine it was all the more astonishing when I finally got to feast my eyes on another masterpiece, complete and perfect, coming from the master of Fantasy! Great work, Flak! Brilliant in each and every detail!

I am without a doubt, one of the worst Poser artists in Renderosity. In one of my attempts, I tried putting more than one figure in a single render and had more trouble than Custer at his last stand. Looking through your very impressive collection of renders, I can see that arranging the "Charge of the Light Brigade" would not be too great a challenge to your expert skills. I have nothing but the greatest respect for anyone who can weld these complicated 3D programs as well as you do. Obviously it has impressed many others in these galleries and the accolades are certainly well deserved. This is one highly impressive piece of work Flak - and I for one am deeply impressed!
