Description

Just some more work related stuff. The bathroom layout and design is being driven by an actual condominium project we are working on. This image is part of a series of material tests. All modeled and rendered in LightWave 3D. The toilet was originally a low-res 3DS mesh I found on the web that I used as a template for a complete remodel. It didn't come out too well, which is why it's hiding behind the column. I've also modeled each of the walls on a separate layer so I can rotate the model and drop the opacity to show different parts of the bathroom. All textures were scanned and manipulated in Photoshop. Except for the lurid green mosaic tiles, which I had to paint one-by-one. Total production time for this was just over 28 hours... because of scanning actual materials and painting those stupid mosaic tiles. Thank you very much for dropping by to look.

Nice work as always. But, I do wish somebody at your job would pay you to design a futuristic looking lobby or something similar, then you could really go to town :-)

You got a fun job, Moe! Must not seem so much like work, unless your painting tiles one at a time.:) Looks good, is the kitchen next? Nice work, bud!;0)

Nice bath :) A little bit too little for my taste, but I'd give anything for a bathtub - mine's only got a shower :p , lol. Great work! :)

This looks great Moe! Just a quick suggestion or two: the bathtub support may need to have lips on the edges to retain water from dripping on the floor and the toilet looks cramped between the bathtub and the wall, but that may be due to the angle of the image. Everything else looks perfect!

this may be the only time it is appropriate to tell you your work is toilet : ) i have a small gripe tho.......... wheres the shower tray......gonna need a shit load of silicone to keep that baby watertight without a shower tray, for instance, how does the door seal once its closed,, cuz no amount of rubber seal is gonna stop water going down the channels of the tile grout : ) now for the annoying bit : ) those little green mosaic style green tiles that you painted 1 by 1 are almost identical to the ones in my kitchen........ if ye'd have asked me i'd have done some photos for ye : )..as everybody says its kinda small, if it was my condo i'd lose the bathtub altogether (seeing as its only big enough for the dog and she doesn't take many baths)

Hey Moe, nice one, I didnt realise until recently you worked as an architect and used LW in your work, no wonder your sci-fi stuff is so good. I like the bathroom, very clean tidy and compact. Cant fault the modeling and rendering tho I do have to agrea with chemicalbrother about the showertray. That apart, a very good posting.

it does look small, but I guess its for a condo, which is appropiate.does any of your work stuff get animated, fly throughs etc. As for the shower tray,I've seen similar things, its then up to the tiler to keep the fall going to the drain, architects always seem to like challenging tradespeople, must be some strange game they play, lol great modelling as usual!great stuff!!

Ahhh, Moeb. There are ways to get your tiles without painting each one individually. Just search the web for mosaic tiles and you'll probably be inundated with sites that have online catalogs showing examples of every tile sheet they make. Then just cut and paste the tile image apply bumpmapping or displacement and go to town. Scanning materials for the surfaces is quicker than setting up the surface with procedeurals but there again you can search the web under formica online catalogs and again have textures you can use. The wet floor bathroom is not unusual. As a matter of fact many modern bathrooms have no shower tray only a mild slant to the floor towards a central drain. It makes clean-up much easier. I do have to admit that this condo with the toilet where it is would make getting in and out of the tub a challange. And only room for one towel holder int the spot over the tub can make for some interesting gymnastics should the phone ring and you need to grab a towel quick and be out the door. Is this the state of modern condo construction, now a days in lovely down town KL. Oh in reference to a previous post, Have you been to the PJ prison lately?

Very clean and steril, not like my bath... Excellent quality as always, but, isnt the bathtub a little bit to small? Also, I think, the mirror is a little bit to big, but this is only my 2cents...

Nice work mate, wish my job was so much fun, fitting a 20ft sign, 80ft in the air on a cherrypicker with torrential rain and gale force winds seems to lose it's appeal when I think of you sitting in a nice cozy office getting paid to play with LW. As the late Robert Palmer once said, "Some guys have all the luck". And the talent too in your case, keep up the great work Moe.
