Description

0.1mm black pigment pen on small sketchpad, 104x163mm (as with my "embryonic" series, no postwork) In my lunch hour today I went to one of my local stationery shops and bought three Staedtler pigment liner pens; two fine ones at 0.1mm and a thicker one at 0.7mm. My Rendo friends' appreciation of the three line drawings in my "embryonic" series, posted a few days back, has reminded me of how absorbed I used to be when working on pieces like those. So I'm determined (one way or another) to get back into that way of working a bit more... thank you especially Cassie for your support and encouragement! :-) So this is a first doodle, very free and unplanned, some strange little being at one with its environment, both affecting it and being affected by it! I know I know, I'm very "rusty" and out of practice! But once I picked up the pen and started using it, the old feel was familiar and somehow it doesn't seem long since I was working with them frequently, although I haven't used them on a weekly basis since my teens ;-) So there should be more pen work cropping up in my gallery from now on, from time to time, both in its own right and integrated with my more familiar digital styles. Thanks as always for your feedback :-)

I think you can add this one to the January theme in 2D Forum because it truely is a rebirth of something old you have not done for so many years. You almost get me inspired to do the same :-)

Questo studio di linee da cui prende vita un riconoscibile soggetto umanoide induce pere piacevolmente a visualizzare altre forme embrionali accennate nella masssa centrale. Per me un ottimo lavoro!

Gun said exactly what I was thinking as I saw this! I love the way I can see a kind of evolution from your teen work to digital to something new, I'm sure combining the two will produce some more fascinating imagery!

Yayyyy! I'm glad you decided to do this. This one has a wonderful flow. Kinda reminds me of Hopi stuff, I think. Very nice

This little guy is SO cool and endearing I could imagine him being stolen by some corporation as their mascot! I do see a few little shakes here and there, but overall I find this so incredibly free that those tiny imperfections almost add to the charm. Thank you so much for stocking up and taking the plunge ;) I so look forward to seeing where you go with this long untapped talent! hugs Great re-birthing my friend HUGS
